You cannot heal in the same environment where you got sick’. .
I talk about this a lot because I think it’s so very true. When we feel rubbish we so often stay still - either through habit, comfort, lack of motivation, or fear - and just hope that at some point we might start to feel better. The waiting game rarely works. .
It might seem too difficult to change your environment, but it doesn’t have to be all at once (it’s not about giving ourselves a mountain to climb). Change one small thing at a time, go slowly if you need to, but just start. .
Little changes make a big impact...less alcohol & more water, more rainbow food & less junk, more exercise & more sleep, less time with toxic people & more time with people who make you happy, learning to breathe better, practicing mindfulness, trying meditation....the list of possibilities is endless really. .
Although they might feel like nothing at the time, the small things add up. A few weeks or months down the line you’ll look back and realise your environment is completely different to when you started. You may have started to feel a whole lot better, you may have started to heal 🌤 .
What's the worst thing when sleeping in a van on warm summer nights? Right. Mosquitos. We had the most horrible night because we had millions of them in the car. Okay not millions but at least 20. I am not kidding.
Starting with the fact that it took us ages to fall asleep as a low humming in our ears has kept us from sleeping peacefully. It was an interplay of turning the lights on and off again to chase the mosquitos. These creatures are damn fast and still find gaps to hide in our small and tight living space. As soon as we layed down again, the next humming in our ears appeared at least after 20 minutes or they have already settled on our body or face. It was a fight. Most of all with our energy, patience and nerves.
The next morning was oppressive. My face was covered with many mosquito bites and I looked like I was coming out of a bad fight. I mean I still do... Itching, a swollen face and extreme tiredness were the harvest of this unpleasant night. We are still recovering and working on ways to solve this problem or at least make it more humane. 🧘🏼♀️
We already asked for your experience and advices in our story. But again we want to put awareness on this big topic of sleep loss🛏🌙
We read that essential oils and plants like lavender or sage help to keep mosquitos away. Did anyone of you made experience with that? We thought about buying a scented candle maybe with the smell of lavender. And already we spread the herbs of sage tea on a plate and put it on the table in the middle of the van. We gonna keep you updated with how that works.
