See those 2 islands between Luke Skywalker and Rey. Those are the Skellig Islands. They were used to film where Rey met Luke at the end of star wars force awakens and in the last jedi where Luke lived and trained Rey.
It was £40 each to go round the islands on a boat or £80 each to visit and walk around them. The £80 one was fully booked anyway, as expected, but I wouldn't pay that. I wouldn't pay the £40 one either, sod that, 2 and a half hours going up and down and up and down 🤢 on them choppy ass waters, being sea sick as balls, no thanks. The sky, cliffs and sea made it very pretty but it was windy enough here holding on to these 2 just for the pic and I've learnt before #ihavenosealegs
I was also still thinking about the weather I'd had the day before at carrauntoohil and although brighter today was still #sowindy
The area; the ring of kerry is a 111 mile tourist road that goes in a ring round the south west. We travelled a further 20 miles south from hostel on that to portmagee to go and see the skellig islands. Had a walk round the kerry cliffs before heading back north to get the flight home. Very pretty part of the world.
Without a doubt, one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life is taking a boat tour to see the Skellig Islands. The history here is rich and fascinating. Today was unforgettable. We are staying in the breathtaking, coastal town of Portmagee, tucked into one of the patchwork peninsulas of the West of Ireland.
