Anyone else feel like they need one of these just to leave the house this season?! I hate seeing your posts about how your kids have endless fevers and colds, about hospital visits, about the flu taking out the whole family!!! (And I know YOU hate living it!!) The most frustrating thing is when you feel like you’re doing all you know to prevent it and somehow sickness STILL finds you!
If you can relate (and are determined to be WELL for all the holiday fun you’ve got planned) save Dec. 14-20th on your calendar! Some of my super smart friends and I are teaming up to add to your arsenal and equip you to avoid the cooties this winter.
If what you’re doing hasn’t been working, what’s the harm in listening in?!
With the kids having been sick the last few days (Brielle was on day 3 today and Zander on day 2), 😷🤒it’s so nice to take the evening to catch up on some work and enjoy the twinkling of the Christmas lights!🎄🎄 My superfoods are a real must right now! 🤞🏼
If your kids were sick in the last few weeks, how long did it last?? 😳🙁

Hey guys! Once again for the winter holidays season I am reopening donations for my Sick Kids holiday fund raiser. I lived in sick kids over numerous christmas’ and like to do my part to give back. I collect funds and 100% of proceeds go toward buying gifts for teens and kids living in sick kids over the holidays. Any donations or shares are highly appreciated 🙂. Picture of me and my momma on ward in sick kids for attention 😉
This poor child :( she has been puking all day :( when I started the only load of laundry there was this morning, I didn’t think I would have 5 more today 🤣😭 or I would have to throw out a kitchen chair because I couldn’t get the diarrhea out of the crevices of wicker 🤦🏻♀️ #momlife this poor kid catches literally everything. I am so praying that is a 24 hour thing 🙏🏻 I have not been able to keep up with my kids today by myself 😂 literally the first day since I’ve become a mom of 3 that I thought I failed lol so as I’m now sitting down to spend a few hours working, I’m so blessed I can work whenever, from where ever, and still be able to take care of my kids 💕 I have the best team in the world 🙌🏻 I’m so blessed to be a part of a company that gives back so much! Our CEO just opened a cancer research lab!!! 🙏🏻 our entire team is giving back! So many amazing opportunities to give back! I know for sure I will be sponsoring somehow, someway! As I’m nursing my baby back to health, I get to provide for her while snuggling her. I don’t have to drop her off at the baby sitters while I work, or leave her with a family member while she’s sick. I get to make sure shes okay ❤️🙌🏻 #blessed#mom#sickkids#publicschoolsucks#cancersucks
So in amongst a morning of juggling a little guy with a tummy bug 🤢 washing my hands 500 times (*irrational fear of germs) and only eating dry toast for fear I too get stuck down.. Ive managed to press PUBLISH. 8 years ago I threatened to create a place for my wild ideas to land. HERE it is. And as the universe would have it Im truly experiencing the chaotic fusion of mothering and blogging.. #nutritionblog#mamablog#parenting#musings#sickkids#thejuggle

Started my morning on the left while big brother was at a sleepover. Thank you again, Lexi for the fun he had with Connor! ❤ But now we are ending our day on the right, with 2 warm just under fever temperature boys. One with a cough and horrible nose, and one with side, elbow and shoulder pavement burns from getting flipped over a bicycle (it was a complete accident). Today has not been their day, they have both been sleeping A LOT. But they are enjoying family cuddles and love, and we will be monitoring through the night for tomorrow. Sometimes life just doesn't play the way we want cause we hate sick days!!
What a long weekend!
We managed to get our Santa photo, but we thought our kids just had a cold. They’ve been sick for two and a half weeks now. Well, Saturday night took a turn for the worst for the two smallest ones. We ended up at Urgent Care today, and they both have bronchitis. Sick 2.5 year old & sick 6 year old mixed with a NOT SICK, ready-to-roll 9 year old has made for a rough Sunday.
I will have plenty of down time (probably with a toddler sprawled across my chest) to get some work on the blog done this week. Revamping some older posts, writing a new one, and shifting the set up of the website! Exciting things!
Definitely stay tuned for all those goodies coming your way!
How are your kids handling this winter weather?
0 910 hours ago
I didn’t get to go to the #nutcracker today, but the girls did!
They both have colds and a cough which has disrupted their normal routines of sleeping through the night. So that means mommy and daddy have been in a bit of a sleep deficit too. Mix that with an already busy holiday schedule and the cold weather and this momma bear is trying extra hard to keep everyone healthy.
What are your best #nontoxic tips for keeping your family healthy this cold and flu season??
This is your Sunday evening reminder that you can handle whatever this week throws at you!! Relieved I was finally able to refuel today and feel determined and ready to take on the week 💪🏼 #sunday#motivation
Day 9 of the Oily Advent! Praise Jesus! I needed this today! We got one down with a cold and chills and I’m channeling my inner hippie hard to keep these germs at bay and fight them off faster so we can all be too top shape for Christmas! This is a must have all winter long...OK all year!
A few ways we love to use it:
1. Diffuse it in every room, we like to mix it with Lemon or Orange or RC are some favs.
2. Make a chest rub with coconut oil, Thieves, RC and then I like to add frank and any other ones we love for cough and colds. Some to consider are Raven, Marjoram, Black Spruce, Myrtle
3. Thieves tea, with honey and a drop of oil in hot water or any plain tea.
4. Immune roller-5 ml
5 dropsThieves, 5 drops Frank, 5 drops Lemon and 3 drops Oregano fill with carrier oil.
Roll up spine and bottom of feet
5. Bath Soak
Epsom salts and Magnesium flakes and 2-3 drops of Thieves in bath.
Oily mamas how do you Use your Thieves??
Spending Christmas Eve 2015 at Sick Kids with Jordana was indescribably difficult -impossible to keep her spirits high when our own spirits were nowhere to be found. A nurse knocked on our door and came in with a Starbucks gift card. The note attached was from a parent who spent her Christmas there years prior. She wrote: “You’re not alone”. That note broke down walls and we no longer felt so isolated. So scared. Jordana and I made a list of gift ideas to bring to Sick Kids in future Christmas’s -but she gained her wings less than a month later. Today, Jordi’s Angels @shoploveandabove carry her dream forward. On Christmas these families will not be left alone, after all isn’t that what the Christmas spirit is all about? I used the Starbucks gift card in the hospital lobby and I cried when I ordered my skinny vanilla latte. Today I am unable to order that drink. Thank you to ALL who donated and tomorrow is the last date to order your gift cards before we deliver them to the hospital. #Repost@shoploveandabove ・・・
Our Holiday Gift Card Drive for @sickkidstoronto was inspired by our Rainbow Girl Jordana Fiorini. Last year the HGCD generated $6,000 in gift cards thanks to our amazing donors. Together with @jordanasrainbows we want to make a small difference to those who need it most spending their holidays at SickKids Hospital. To thank you for your generosity Love & Above giving you our most popular Jordana’s Rainbows products for every dollar donated! Donate online or in store - link in bio for more details! #HGCD2018
PSA: The Nursery Room family have been wiped out with a virus but promise to have all outstanding orders complete and expressed to you this week. Thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime I will leave you with this gorgeous pic of our matching eggs which will be back in abundance when we #relaunch the online store on March 1, 2019.
NOTE: This candid photo does not represent our household right now.
In fact if I could pick a photo LESS like our current situation... this would be it 😳
Remember Billy’s “little” virus I proudly declared had left us for good?... Turns out NOT so little and frankly more of a selfish, evil, asshole virus that destroys everything in its path leaving few survivors (FYI my husband and I did not survive 🤬)
Essentially we’ve been living in a cesspit the past 2 days similar to one you might encounter after a zombie apocalypse or a wild night out on the daiquiris 💁🏻♀️...
Oh and did I mention our virus-carrying (albeit adorable) spawn baby has decided to cut a back molar at the same time.... just for kicks 😳
Nobody’s laughing Billy.
While shopping at @buybuybaby today I stopped by to see our product placement for Ava the Elephant (@babydelightinc ) & happily found two moms chatting about it.
One mom owned the 1st version 🙌 and the other was seeing the new version for the 1st time. Both were happy to have it for cold/flu season!
I love moments like that where I can hear honest feedback and be a fly on the wall. ♥️♥️♥️ #buybuybaby#babyhood#fluseason#momlife#dadlife
Oh my 😍
Check our my sweet Ava the Elephant as stocking stuffers, just in time for cold/flu season! Available NOW at @babydelightinc OR @buybuybaby 👏👏👏

🎄Repost @susiebluesyy🎄Charity Advent Cal DAY 9🙌
The family who inspire me the very MOST on Instagram are Grace and her Cub AKA Kisscub - and what a year they have had. If you don’t know (FOLLOW THEM NOW) a huge portion of their year has been spent in hospital. When I was putting together my advent cal, I wanted to dedicate a day to their charity of choice. And the chosen charity is @thesickchildrenstrust - they gave Mama Grace a room to stay for a whole month Cub was in hospital which meant she could stay in the hospital grounds and sleep in a proper bed rather than a hospital chair. What an AWESOME charity to raise awareness for. I really hope you consider donating and ALSO I hope you generally smother @kisscub with love and attention because what a delightful little family who bring ALL the joy ✨
As you probably know, Cub just got out of hospital after a month spent fighting another big battle. She had air in her brain, an infection & 3 further surgeries. It was a risky, terrifying, exhausting time.
The only place for me to stay was by her side but the only place for me to sleep on the neuro ward was in a reclining chair next to her bed. I have ME/CFS, fibromyalgia & spondylosis in my back, a month spent sleeping on a chair would have rendered me incapacitated. This is where The Sick Children’s Trust stepped in. They gave me a room in the parents house, equipped with a shared kitchen, a laundry room & bathrooms. With the hospital an hour away from home, having somewhere to prepare food, clean our clothes, shower and - most importantly - to get some sleep, was invaluable.
Having a child in hospital is a harrowing time, we were lucky to only have to stay a month, other families have to stay longer. Cub has a shunt, it probably won’t be our last long stay.
It cost them £900 for my room during our stay but they didn’t expect a penny from me.
These rooms make it possible for families to stay together during the most difficult times of their lives. Please, this Christmas, donate to this wonderful charity and help another mum like me stay near her cub like Cub. It really was a lifeline for me. Thank you x
Cold and flu season is upon us and I’m stoked to be partnering with @Vicks available at Walmart to talk about some of the ways I keep the cold and flu under control the best I can by pairing their products with some other cold and flu survival staples for parents like the family puke
bucket (you know the one I’m talking about), movies, a tarp to save you from having to
clean stomach acid out of your carpet at 3 a.m., and my ultimate secret weapon, Walmart’s grocery pickup service - because the last thing I want to do is carry my sick, tantruming children around for a late-night drugstore run. Also, a Walmart employee will load all my stuff up so I don’t have to get out of my car. I could open-mouth-kiss whoever came up with this idea. ✨ Friends, I NEED YOUR HELP for this sweet baby!!
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know the story of my childhood best friend and her daughter, Addison, who is fighting Leukaemia.
Unfortunately during the course of this aggressive treatment, Addison's cancer has returned (the goal is for it to be in remission over treatment, and then of course, remain there).
The new course of action involves the family moving from their home, to a new city for a few months, so that Addison can be treated at Sick Kids Toronto in the New Year.
Addison has a twin sister, Sophia. The girls are 16 months old.
The Ronald McDonald house has been absolutely fantastic! However there is a long waitlist for apartment style rooms, with no guarantees they will get one.
Because most are hotel style rooms, they are sadly are not conducive for Sophia to live, sleep and be raised in. As anyone who has been around a newly walking 1 year old can imagine!
The Lawlor's need to move into a 1-2 bedroom condo in Toronto in order of the four of them to remain together, in the same city.
The alternative would be the parents being in different cities, with different daughters, and trading off. They need each other, and both girls need both parents!
Both parents are off work to care for their daughters. The donations they received earlier this year were incredible and so appreciated — but in order for the next stage of this journey to happen, they will need some miracles financially.
THAT'S WHERE WE COME IN! 🎄🎅🏻❤️✨
'Tis the season. Any amount is appreciated. Give only what you can. Let's create a beautiful miracle for this family!!!!
Please donate and share to whoever you can. LINK IN BIO & INSTAGRAM STORIES!
