I couldn't resist not posting this to you tonight!
After a successful trip out yesterday afternoon, from spotting two long-eared owls from a distance, on my way home this short-eared owl flew in front of my car and landed on a post further down the road. I was treated to a few good shots of it before it flew off to hunt!
Drawing for the next lino project. Rare or endangered birds from National Park "Uckermärkische Seen", where I live and Brandenburg. I want to start with Short-eared Owl (Asio flammeus). On the Red List of endangered species in Europe classified as "vulnerable".
Well, for having so much hype #winterstormharper was a sham for the coast. Ice was the trend and the north is getting slammed, what a bummer!
Hopefully the #winds bring in some guests to the shore, #tundra like conditions might bring in these ghosts, ya just never know!! #shortearedowl
Beautiful Short Eared Owl!🦉 There are 3 of them on Pentire Headland. Well worth a look, from around 3:30pm. I took this clip on my phone but you get the idea. It flew so close at one point, I got a fantastic view! Think I’m turning into a bird watcher 🦉🕊🦜🦢🦅🦆
An encounter with an owl is an incredible experience. Whether it’s a ghostly barn owl drifting over the farmland landscape or the fleeting glance of a tawny atop a fence post, you never forget seeing an owl.

The short-eared owl's principal prey is the field vole, making up as much as 80% of their diet in Britain. This species is closely interlinked with its prey. When there is an abundance of voles, the population of short-eared owls increases. However, the population shrinks in years with low prey availability. (Photo by Amy Lewis)
