First Steps – The Beat Is Back E.P 7” (1979 – UK – English Roses) Finally welcoming this top want mod punk power pop record in the familly. “The Beat is back” is a strong classic track of the genre in everyway, comp on Shake Some Action, Back to Front and probably many others. Essential only for this title track. Any decent record punk/Power Pop collection should have this in the shelves IMO. The two other cuts doesn’t really reach the same level of execution with “lets go Cupoid” falling more into Devo-esque territory…need to get their second single as well which is truly equally great. #firststeps#punk#powerpop#englishroses#thebeatis back #UK #1979 #backtofront#shakesomeaction#vinyl
Flamin’ Groovies – Shake Some Action (Sire, 1976). A reconstituted Groovies shift from throwback rockabilly to straight up power pop and create one of the cornerstones of the genre. Power pop doesn’t get a whole lot a real estate on my shelves, but this one I can always find time for. Original UK pressing.
Tonight on The Audiovore- "That 70's Show: Dazed And Confused In The Age Of Excess." Tonight we take a look back on all of the pomp and swagger that made up the 1970s with a full-blown throwdown with some of my favorite songs from the era. From glam rock to arena rock and beyond, we'll be pulling out all of the stops with both deep cuts and popular favorites from everyone from Kiss and David Bowie, to Foghat, The Flamin' Groovies, Slade, Suzi Quatro, T. Rex, The Runaways, Foreigner, Sparks, Roxy Music, Thin Lizzy, New York Dolls, Mott The Hoople, and MORE with a two hour non-stop DJ set. Gonna be a lot of fun. No disco, no punk, no new wave. Just pure rock 'n' roll action all night long. All jams, no filler. Don't miss it!!! #that70sshow#dazedandconfused#shakesomeaction#dressedtokill#rockandrollallnight@birminghammountainradio
