Recently, this piece of fan art has caught my attention. It depicts one of the many possibilities of Game of Thrones endings. Here, one of Daenerys’ dragons attacks Red Keep in King’s Landing. Army of the dead people is also seen on the painting. Particularly, Jaime Lannister looks shocked because Cersei Lannister is probably in the castle. As I am a huge fan of Game of Thrones and an eager follower of theories, I want to analyze why this kind of ending makes sense.
First of all, it is Jaime’s armor. In the last trailer we can see that he already got rid of his Lannister armor and wore a relatively simple Stark armor. This marked Jaime’s official allegiance to Jon and Daenerys. And in this picture, we see that he does not wear his old “gold, heavy King’s Guard Commander” armor, but a “dark compatible” Stark armor.
Secondly, it is the setting of the fight. It is completely possible that there might be a battle in King’s Landing in one of the final season’s episodes. It may be hard to believe in that for several reasons. First, the third episode is Battle of Winterfell, the longest battle sequence in the show so far. Logically, it would take a lot of time to transfer all the characters from Winterfell to King’s Landing in a matter of 3 episodes. But, Game of Thrones is famous for its time jumps within and between episodes, so this is a great possibility for a final battle.
Nevertheless, one thing particularly caught my attention. It is the dragon destroyin the Red Keep. From the color of the flame, we know that it is one of the Daenerys’ two remaining dragons. It would not make sense for her to command it to destroy the castle if she at all hopes to rule after the war. It would make sense if it was a dragon that was brought to live by Night King, but it is not the case. Hence, it is either a mistake by the author or actually a deliberate detail that shows the need for destroying the Red Keep (probably because of excessive attack by the army of the dead). Also, in one of the episodes of Game of Thrones, Daenerys had a vision of her standing in the Throne Room completely destroyed and covered in snow.
The Iron Throne portrayed in the books is by far the coolest throne I’ve ever seen!! What’re your thoughts? Do you prefer the show or the book version of the throne?
