A scout from the @grumetifund team working this area at dusk, along the western corridor of the Greater Serengeti, Tanzania.
These men are not only faced with the threat of poachers on a daily basis, but also have to be trained when it comes to being on foot with lion, leopard, elephant and other dangerous animals. How to be sensitive to the wildlife, and how to react in any given situation.
Human-wildlife conflict is another huge challenge in this area and these same scouts are involved in working to mitigate human-wildlife conflict daily - removing snares, working to stop bushmeat poaching and herding cattle belonging to villagers out of protected areas and away from wild animals.
Follow along at @blackbeanproductions as our team works closely over the next while to document the work done by the @grumetifund - you will learn so much not only about the animals in this area and the conservation of this wild place - but about the people on the ground doing the hard graft daily, and the people in the communities that live alongside these wilderness areas.
About last night..... One of those rare moments when all the natural elements come together. The best part was that it was planned from our morning game drive. A dominant male lion was called in from Tlou dam in Madikwe Game Reserve . We visualised the lion going onto the dam wall at sunset ..... Just didn’t expect him to be roaring as he walked along 📸 by @jonobuffey#wildestafrica
The Serengeti in Tanzania 😍 Did you know that the Serengeti name was derived from the Maasai language? It means endless plains and that sure is accurate! 📸: @mastravelled •

I swear, the Airstrip clan seems to pick fights with lions almost daily now. This time more than 40 of them showed up and pushed three young male lions and two adult lionesses off a wildebeest kill. I’m actually not sure who made the kill, but either way, the hyenas had the last (literal) laugh. I think it’s high time we get Eternal Enemies II: Airstrip Vendetta. Let’s make it happen, people.
