I’m sharing my full story with you in a multi-part series, starting with my health journey (slash catastrophe?) over the last few years. I put it all out there-how it went down, and how I made it out alive. .
This is by far the most open and vulnerable I’ve ever been. And I feel really good about sharing it with you. My hope is that it will educate and inspire some, and help others feel less alone in their journey. .
If you feel compelled to share my story on Facebook or Instagram, please do. I think more women need to see it to be empowered to feel seen. .
Thank you for allowing me to share my heart with you. I’m falling in love with this blossoming community of women more and more each day. .

#chewigem child flip bangles. I love these so much I have all three colour combos. Pink & yellow, black & camo, blue & orange. I'm a petite adult and these are nice and loose on my wrist. They were pretty hard and stiff when I first got them and the edges felt sharp on my lips, but after a week or so of constant wearing and chewing they became much softer. I've worn the camo one a lot since I got it, it goes everywhere except work with me. It's been constantly chewed, squished, rubbed between my fingers and thumb, scrunched, stretched, folded, flipped repeatedly and washed a lot so now it is super soft and absolutely lovely to chew and hold between my teeth. It's super discreet and no one has guessed tat it's specifically designed for chewing, it just looks like I'm nibbling on a random thing like I often do. Definitely in my top 5 favourite chews. #chewigem#sensory#spd#sensoryprocessingdisorder#asd
Student writes with letter reversal so We are doing this activity to work on her graphomotor skills. How is this activity helping?
My cute student is dragging chalk across a long paper taped to the floor. Using her right hand, starting from the left going to the right (vice versus) repeatedly. This might look like it’s just a “waste of time” activity but in reality it’s helping her big time! She is doing this activity to engage in “crossing midline” Crossing the body’s midline (an imaginary line down the centre of the body) is the ability to reach across the middle of the body with the arms and legs crossing over to the opposite side. The brain must transfer and share information from one side to the other, and use the brain as a whole, in order to make sense of the information we take in.
Crossing the midline of the body is vital to build pathways in the brain and is an important prerequisite for reading, writing etc.
No matter how many times she was demonstrated how to draw the letters, or she worked on it with her pencil and paper she was unable to succeed. Until we started doing this!
A short time after doing activities that cross midline my amazing student was able to write the letters accurately. She was so excited, she didn’t want to put her pencil down ❤️
Why is she on the carpet on her stomach? Thought I’d get some trunk strengthening in there too while I’m at it ☺️ .
Some #MondayMotivation for you! Practice kindness this week. Stop and listen. Try to put yourself into each other's shoes. Put love out into the world and watch what comes back to you. 🤗

I’ve finally rolled out the red carpet, fur throw and Jute runner.
Nothing like letting your feet feel the softness of nature in your house.
Handwoven wool and vegetable dyes to an Irish tanned hide sheep fur. (No photo of the Jute runner but it’s here.) Best part is, they’re soft and comfortable enough to fall asleep on. (That’s how I pick my rugs, is it soft and safe enough to sleep on. Will my feet feel rejuvenated & want to continue to carry me through this life willingly without being forced. No artificial dyes or glue allowed. Handmade from mother nature’s finest resources only. I’m extremely picky when it comes to my feet and the energy it feels when barefoot.) Be sweet to your feet! feet-sensory
Sheep fur throw btw is what I recommend for tent camping. The softest bedding EVER. 10xs better than those cots, sleeping bags and blow up air mattresses, which I could/would never sleep on. It can also act as a warm blanket while sitting around the campfire on a cool evening. 5” thick is so perfect- especially for sit-ups too. My favorite piece of furniture is definitely the tanned hide sheep fur- It’s been with me for about 15 yrs now. We will never part from one another. lol. My sanctuary space for reading or napping. It helps keep me grounded for all the right reasons. (the struggle is real)

Your home should be your sanctuary, your go to from everything- if it’s not, you’re doing it all wrong.

|candy corn sort|
You probably know that I am not the biggest fan of candy corn (🤢) but I am a big fan of all things fall. This mixed bag of autumn candy corn was perfect for sorting and counting. I added a pair of learning tweezers to make it more of a challenge for Little E. He may have snuck a piece or two, but he also did a lot of counting and sorting (awesome early math work) and fine motor skills so it’s all good.
#chewigem pencil topper. I do l❤ve a geometric pattern and a bit of colouring in. The glittery pencils were a gift from Waterstones and the geometric notebook from paperchase. Mine is a red #chewigem pencil topper but I think they also come in black or grey. As a pencil topper it doesn't really work for me personally. I have chewed and broken a few pencils and could easily bite through the pencil topper as it's quite thin. I haven't tried it on a pen yet but this might be more solid and work better for me. However, it does work as a great stim toy. I really enjoy rubbing it on my face, especially the top of my lip and along the side of my face. It's got little bumpy bits which are not exactly sharp but you can definitely feel them on your skin. It's also really nice to lick and hold in your mouth. #chewigem#sensoryplay#sensoryprocessingdisorder#sensory#spd#asd

This is the #chewigem infant bangle. No I'm not an infant, but yes I can get it on my wrist (just!). I love how yellow it is! It's very soft and flexible to chew and fidget with. I wear it on a spare cord as a necklace but I also carry it around in my pencil case when I do uni modules as it's the perfect size to hold in my hand to squish and flip under the desk to help keep anxiety under control, especially when unexpected questions or group work gets fired in my direction 😕 I have a bad habit of putting the whole bangle in my mouth though when I'm wanting to escape. For a little person, I think this would be a perfect first chew as it's small, lovely and soft and easy to wear. It also comes in red or blue which I'm tempted to add to my collection at some point. #chewigem#sensoryprocessingdisorder#actuallyautistic#asd#spd#sensory

😍💖JUST ARRIVED💖😍 *Embossed Building Blocks* fun for tiny tots and those ready for school. How gorgeous are these?!!!👶🧒👦👧 #pip_along
So orange! This was my August #chewigem subscription which came with orange tissue paper instead of their logo emoticon paper. I got the orange and blue board pendant which came on a rough black cord (my favourite kind). The colours are so bright and fun. It comes in two other colours also. It's lovely, so soft and flexible! For some reason it seems softer than the single colour toggle boards even though they are the same design. A very comforting chew for me that I like to wear on days at home in my pj's. I also chose the hand fidget, no idea what took me so long because I love it! It has a mini textured green berry in the middle that spins and slides on the pole in the middle of the fidget. The circle shape is soft enough to squeeze in your hand but also tough enough to chew. This is the 'joy' colour which has a mix of all the rainbow in it and is a fab visual stim for me. It also comes in camo. I'm not a fan of lights etc for visual stimulation but love shapes, colours and textures, so this covers a few likes for me. The free gift for August was sweets, loved the 🍭 #chewigem#stim#actuallyautistic#spd#asd#sensory#sensoryprocessingdisorder
Never underestimate the power of music! 🎶 Loving this music set for calming auditory input during our sensory regulation OT session. In my personal experience children have a much greater attention to task if they are auditory seeking and hear consistent beats/rhythm which keeps them regulated. A good technique to try 1:1 especially with autism or ADHD/OCD, while minimizing other distractions within the room.
