Shout out 📢 to ALL the single Mammas out there - y’all are the REAL MVPs! 🙌🏻 The past week I’ve been single mommin it with a very independent - stubborn - busy toddler & a 14 week old baby - shiz has been challenging to say the least [is there a pulling hair out emoji?! 🤣🤣🤷🏼♀️] So - here’s a little reminder for you:
We ALL Struggle
We ALL stress and feel like a complete failure sometimes
We ALL hide in the bathroom to find that one moment of peace while the tears run down our cheeks
We ALL have moments where we loose our cool - then cry it out because we feel guilty for it
We ALL have moments.... BUT -- because of this beautiful - challenging - crazy phase of our life -- we get to REALLY feel abundantly BLESSED with all the AMAZING moments that come along with the chaos!
Those beautiful eyes that look up to you every day and think you are just Perfect and that you’ve hung the moon
The belly giggles after an hour of tickling
The HUGE - I will NEVER let you go hugs
The fact that they think you are the strongest and that you can conquer the world!
The first Crawl - the first Step - the first Word
And the moment they run to you - arms wide for a huge hug - a kiss - and just to tell you "I Love You Mommy"
You don't have to be perfect - we all stumble and make mistakes - but never ever giving up - and being willing to stumble together - learn together - grow stronger together - and raise your babies into amazing - kind - loving human beings -- that's what it's all about. And don’t forget to enjoy ALL the moments entangled within this beautiful phase of our lives!
So this is just a reminder that you, Mamma - are doing amazing - it might not feel like it all the time - but you are doing an INCREDIBLE Job! 💗
XO - Christina

A recent Washington Post article posed the question 'Women's magazines are dying. Will we miss them when they're gone?" This women's magazine isn't planning on dying, we're evolving! Verily Yours is part of that evolution. Women today are more educated, more influential, and more accomplished than ever before. Yet we report record levels of anxiety, decreased happiness, and more burnout. We know we can't change all the facts of life that contribute to these struggles, but Verily would like to be there in these struggles a bit more. That's why we launched Verily Yours. 12 weeks postpartum.
I’ve been waiting for this day because it’s like a mark in American society.
12 weeks is when most moms are expected to go back to work. 12 weeks is like the standard for recovery and being out of the fourth trimester and having your shit all together again.
I lay here fully aware that my shit is not together. Some days I still don’t get dressed. Some days I have no idea how to raise two humans. Some days I don’t have enough mental clarity to call the dentist office and schedule an appointment. This marker- I definitely have not hit it.
I am of the mindset that postpartum care in our nation is not sufficient. From the very beginning we are rushing over the needs of moms to recover physically, mentally, and emotionally. We set these markers and they cause us to create these expectations. When our expectations aren’t our reality that’s when we feel like we failed.
I want to remind you that your value, your success, your growth is not dependent on a timeline- especially not a timeline created by society.
Throw out the ideas of what you are “supposed to be” at any given point in time. Remove the temptation to compare the timeline of your journey with someone else’s. This goes not just for postpartum, but for all the areas you are learning and growing in. Your value exceeds timelines friend ❤️
Look who wanted to participate in the ten year challenge thing! Baby Heidi when she first came home, Autumn, 2008, and from Autumn, 2018. These pictures are almost exactly ten years apart. Ten years of pure love.

A little tired, a little jet lagged, happy to be home and oh so grateful for the adventure we just had together. Thank you to everyone who followed along with our trip. I’ll try to put it into words via a blog post on my website before too long. But for today, I am unpacking, cleaning my studio, reflecting on the last few weeks, and also looking forward & planning what the next year will hold for our family and this not so little business of mine. Thank you for supporting all of *this* ❤️
2 0 1 9 : who else has already found themselves falling back into the habits they resolved not to at the beginning of the year? I have! Good thing we have a patient God who is willing to forgive our shortcomings and give us strength for each day. [psalm 37:23-24] The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.

It was nice to see you today! Despite our busy schedule, I'm glad we found the time to catch up and chill for a bit. See you in summer, JDSTERS! Happy 10 years of knowing each other!

________ this past year I’ve been learning the importance of self care. It’s a concept that I wasn’t too familiar with to be honest. But I’m navigating through learning what feels good and I’ve realized that self care can look like many different things: like finding a dress that makes you feel pretty, like taking a walk to the beach in the middle of the day to sit on the sand and hear the waves crash against the shore, like being more forgiving with yourself and even buying flowers to brighten up your day. One of my favorite things to do alone is shop for flowers at the LA Flower Mart. What are some of your favorite self care acts?
Skincare Review: Dr Dermal Total Rejuvenation Plasma and MicroRetinol 5 Rich Repair.
As a cosmeceutical range that has been developed by skincare professionals, Dr Dermal's skincare products are cruelty-free, free from SLS, artificial fragrance and artificial colourants. I received these two products a while back and have been testing them since. The Total Rejuvenation Plasma is a lightweight serum that has a matte finish (great to wear under makeup!). I spot apply this on areas that are prone to acne and this product has really helped to reduce congestion and skin texture (especially on and around the nose area).
The MicroRetinol 5 Rich Repair aims to boost cellular renewal and stimulate collagen production. Like the serum, I spot treat with this and I slowly introduced it into my skincare routine. Seriously, it took me around 2 months to fully integrate it into my routine. Personally, this cream product has helped to strengthen my skin barrier post-breakouts. However, I strongly suggest seeing a dermatologist before incorporating a retinol into your skincare routine.
It took quite a while for me to see results with these products but I really like them so far. I'm going to be posting updates and more in-depth reviews on these Dr Dermal products so stay tuned 🌸. Have you tried any Dr Dermal products? Comment down below!

Skincare Review: Cosrx One Step Moisture Up Kit (R80 at Shop Glow Theory). _____________________________________________
I really like this Korean skincare pack - it's easy to use and great for travelling. Step one is cleansing and this moisture kit contains a sample size of the Cosrx Good Morning Low pH Cleanser. This is one of my fave cleansers (I own a full size of it) because it's gentle yet effective. The second step is a sachet that contains a Moisture Up Pad. This is another cult product from Cosrx and I really enjoyed using it. It is soaked in product and, after application, my skin feels soft and hydrated. However, I do think the results will be greater if you use this type of product on a regular basis.
The third and final step is the Holy Moly Snail Sheet Mask. Like the moisture pad, this is packed with hydrating and soothing ingredients (mainly snail essence and red ginseng water). Again, this is super hydrating and refreshing for the skin. I used this kit when my skin was recovering from a breakout (so it was a little dry and flakey) and it really helped to soothe my skin and alleviate the flaking. I think this is a cool product for traveling since it contains most products for a basic skincare routine. Also, it's a nice way to test out the Low pH Cleanser and Moisture Up Pad if you're on the fence about purchasing the full size versions.

________ This is 36. People talk about getting older like it’s terrifying and I don’t think I ever felt that way before until this birthday 3 weeks ago. I’m not sure if it was because 35 had more lows than highs or because it reminded me of the promises I didn’t keep to myself. In fact, I don’t think I made any promises to myself. Doing that felt somewhat selfish to me. I set goals, yes, and tried to surpass them and was successful at some for sure but my intentions were always to make others happy. Whether it was for family or friends or clients, I sought to please others. And while that might not be the worst trait, it certainly isn’t the way I want to continue being present in this world. @oprah once said, “Living your life for yourself is not selfish, it’s an honorable thing.” I intend to make a conscious effort to do that and perhaps I’m late to the train, but at least I’ve finally hopped on. I’m using this platform to share what I love creating - and I can’t wait to see how that evolves over this next year. Cheers to a new year and thank you for being here with me 💫
Happy Friday everyone 💛
earth laughs in flowers 🌹

so many beautiful houses here in key west! today is our last day in @thefloridakeys and over the course of this past week i’ve come to understand why the people who live in the keys love it so much and why some people who are just visiting end up deciding to move here. i’ve also had 12 different key lime pies (all of which were delicious) and tons of fresh seafood. and, of course, happy to have shared it all with @heydavina who puts up with me cause that’s what friends are for. happy friday! 🏡 #tastethekeys
