Another pic coming in from my recently concluded Southern India Coastal Bike Tour. The famous Pamban Railway opened in 1914 and road Bridge opened in 1988 which connects the coastal town of Rameswaram situated on Pamban Island to mainland India. Pamban Railway bridge is a double leaf bascule bridge which lets the mid section of bridge open vertically in two separate halves with the help of manual levers so that ships can pass by without any hiccup. The maintenance of this bridge is taken by India Railway's which is a mammoth task as it's a tedious and continuous never ending work thanks to the location of the bridge. The bridge rest hardly 12.5 metres above sea level which leaves it exposed to sea waves and sea salt 24*7, 365days a year so the maintenance department has to make sure that all the metallic parts are well lubed and greased to prevent rusting as even minute issue can be a question of life or death. Hats of to the maintenance team who work on this bridge even when a train is passing. @indianrailwaysfan4ever @world_of_indian_railways @incredibleindia @inside_india_tour @tamilnadu_explorers @enchantingtamilnadu @hungry_travellers @natgeotravel @trell.community @tripotocommunity @natgeotravellerindia @official_photographers_hub @foto4everofficial
One of the most iconic sea link between Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 & Bahrain 🇧🇭. It connects Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain with 25kms of Bridge length and approx 23m width.
It was breathtaking experience to cross the bridge which has both side sea water 💦 , road side trees 🌳 And few parks in between.
Flash back: #Construction of the world's longest sea #bridge .

After almost a decade of construction and swelling costs that reached $20 billion, the world's longest sea crossing - connecting Hong Kong to mainland China - officially open today, opens to public tomorrow.
An aerial view shows a section of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge ( #HKZM ) in Hong Kong. The bridge, officially opened by China's President Xi Jinping, is the world's longest sea-crossing bridge. The 55-km crossing links the semi-autonomous territories of #HongKong and #Macau to the mainland Chinese city of #Zhuhai across the vast Pearl River delta. The multi-billion dollar project includes three cable sea bridges, an underwater tunnel and two artificial islands. The mega-bridge will open to traffic on Wednesday, and unless they meet the highly selective criteria required to drive a car across, most Hong Kong residents will need to travel on coaches and buses. The bridge’s nine-year construction process has been dogged by delays, budget overruns, corruption prosecutions and the deaths of construction workers. Photo: Anthony Wallace/AFP
