Food and art. An interesting piece by Giesepe Panone, yesterday, part of the inspirational ‘Tree in the Wood’ exhibition at the @yspsculpture Giesepe took casts of body parts and placed them with seed potatoes. As the potatoes grew they took on the shape of the body part. These were then cast in bronze. This is an ear I spotted. Each Tuesday a local farmer comes along and replaces the potatoes….. …by the way the @yspsculpture is fabulous at the moment - so much to see including ‘Seizure’- by Turner-prize nominee Roger Hiorns - a reclaimed ex- council flat, made water tight and filled with a super saturated solution of copper sulphate and left to form crystals on each surface - a blue crystal wonder.
And Jaume Plensa’s 7m high sculpture of a young woman ‘Wilsis’ in a dream like state set in beautiful woodland.

Big man meets bigger man and it puzzles him. It puzzles him. Kind of like the deal in The Brothers Gruesome if you know what I mean.

Fun on location at the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park. Got obliterated by mosquitoes and close to dehydration. Was it worth it? You bet!
House Divided
Artist: Bruce Nauman (American, b. 1941)
Materials: cast concrete
Commissioned by the Governors State University Foundation.
The marker reads:
"Nauman draws on Midwestern roots for the form of this sculpture. The viewer is confronted with a large white building—typical of Midwestern farming sheds. When we step inside we are surprised to find the structure has, in fact, been divided in half, diagonally. Three entries to the outside create an uncomfortable space with no corners. Fully half of the structure has been rendered useless. The very private artist, he lives with his wife on a remote ranch in New Mexico, has observed that sometimes sculptures are created that appear to have a function, but when examined, don't. Ultimately, the object's function is for the viewer to ponder." #nathanmanilowsculpturepark#governorstateuniversity#brucenauman#sculptureparks#illinois
