Caterpillar update 🐛 The littlest guys aren’t really that little anymore (compared to how small they are when they hatch) and it is getting increasingly harder to show them where the fresh milkweed clippings are 😂 I’m counting somewhere between 13-15 ‘pillars which is a little upsetting since I’m almost positive I began with 18. My goal is to have all of them become beautiful butterflies 🦋 to help the monarch species as a whole 💛 #saveourmonarchs
A treat from the 70° winter days in #atx . This #queenbutterfly caterpillar is feeding on one of our many milkweed plants we have on campus. ADS is committed to helping the pollinator population, and thanks to the efforts of the EcoWellness program we have our own local butterfly population!
Isn’t this one a beauty?
😁Good morning my friends! Are you planning or working on a permaculture food forest🌿 or an edible landscape🌿? Maybe you are planning to add more fruit trees 🍎and bushes to your homestead. Or are you working on incorporating more natives🌼 into your landscape? Me, pretty much all of the above that is why I was so excited about finding Peaceful Heritage Permaculture Nursery! They have an amazing selection. What really got me hooked on them though was there commitment to quality and their earth friendly practices. No Neonicotinoids here! I interviewed the owner Blake and was so enthused by all of his responses! He is so sincere. Go now and check out the blog post with the interview and get yourself a discount code just for my readers.😊 Thank you Blake! You will probably learn a few new things as well! The link is in the bio
P.S. What kind of trees, bushes, plants...are you looking to add to you landscape?
P.S.S. I am not an affiliate with Peaceful Heritage Permaculture Nursery. I did an interview with Blake because I like his nursery growing practices and he was so kind to offer my followers a discount.😊
✨Big day!✨ I released my first three Monarchs of 2018 (two males, one female), with three more expected tomorrow! Watch my story for some pretty rad videos of them emerging from the chrysalis 😍. It’s such a magical privilege to help these beauties start their lives and prepare for migration. They’ve lost so much habitat due to humans; keeping these ones safe is the least I can do. If you’d like to learn more about this whole process, check out the link in my bio! #SaveTheMonarchs 🐛✨
Tonight is the opening reception for Forward at @nahcotta. The concept for this show is founded in kindness and the desire to put some goodness out in the world. The eleven (incredible) artists in the show have each chosen an organization to support, and 25% of proceeds from their artwork will benefit that org.
I made three pollinator portraits: white-lined sphinx moth, rufous hummingbird and a swarm of bees. My pieces will support @pollinatorpartnership, because these animals need our help! Pollinators are critical to our ecosystem and food supplies—they provide a third of the foods we eat. Monarch butterflies have had a 90% decrease in population in the last 20 years, and 25% of bees are in serious decline. This is a serious problem, and there are steps we can take to help:
. •You can plant pollinator friendly gardens and native plants •don’t use pesticides or support the use of them (choose organic and pollinator friendly foods and companies) •conserve resources (climate change is real and greatly affects pollinators) •support organizations (like @pollinatorpartnership) that are science based and dedicated to helping these animals.
If you’ve read this far, thank you. I hope you’ll consider taking some pollinator-friendly actions! 🐝🦇🦎🦟🦋🕊🐀

We’re nearing peak hummingbird migration season in #Texas. @shaughnessytom shared this view.
Want to help the hungry hummers? Provide native plants such as Turk’s Cap and Salvias and put out feeders with a ratio of 4 parts water to 1 part sugar (white table sugar only). Then enjoy the show!
