The day Buddha was born, he was given a death date. In an industry that uses mothers for their reproductive systems, boys are a “byproduct”. Baby boys killed for veal can be killed as young as a few days old to a few months old. Often times they are held in tiny crates nearly the size of their body, laying in and above their feces.
When in these crates, they are oftentimes outside with little protection from the weather, unable to cuddle with anyone and barely able to turn around.
Many get severely sick and can die from pneumonia or calf diarrhea, which can lead to them becoming septic with a systemic infection.
Buddha was one of them. He was so sick with pneumonia that you could see his bones. When he arrived here at Happy Hen, our Veterinarian thought he wasn’t going to make it. He had a high fever for 6 months and it took him a year to start feeling better.
If Buddha had lived his entire life on that dairy farm, he wouldn’t be alive right now. Thankfully he got the care he deserved and is now able to play and run wherever he feels like.
I love Buddha. He loves to give hugs and kisses. He loves to cuddle with you and is a bit dramatic when he wants hay.
One day, everyone from this terrible industry will be liberated from systemic abuse. It will be illegal to cause any harm or suffering to any animal regardless of species. It will be illegal to use any animal for any purpose. That day will come, but it won’t come if we don’t speak up for them. #shareslo#discoverslo#sloveganguide#sanluisobispo#vegancommunity

Time for my daily dose of CBD for the night. It really has helped me get a full night's sleep and quality sleep at that!! Being a mom is important to be on my toes all day and sleep helps. It has also helped with my aches and pains for being on my feet for 8+ hours for my 9-5 job. It's helped me be a more present mom as I am not tired or sore so I have time to chase my little 1 1/2 year old and listen to him giggle. That is worth a bottle many times over!!!!!

In case you can’t tell where the Milky Way is, I’m pointing my headlamp at it. 🔦 || April 22, 2018. Thanks to @viceglass for hitting the shutter for me and to his dog Bodie for getting sprayed by a skunk 5 minutes in and then proceeding to try and rub the stench on us all night. 🤦🏻♂️
