We moved to #tennessee in 2007 🛣 Although we love the lush rolling green hills here, every now and then my heart ♥️ aches for 🌴 white powder beaches 🏝 and the soft ocean 🌊 sounds of home 🏡 #southflorida
Q.Do you know what causes those crazy (COMPLETELY NATURAL) colors?
-I'll give you a hint 🍃🍂🍁.
A. Tannins! But what are they?
Tannins are large molecules that bind readily with proteins, cellulose, starches, and minerals. These resulting substances are insoluble and resistant to decomposition.
Tannins occur in many species of coniferous trees as well as a number of flowering plant families. These tannins can leach out of the plants. The water in the soil becomes rich with the tannins and seeps into the ground water or drains into lakes, rivers and streams. These waters become brown in color and look like tea.
TLDR; Plant matter breaks down and what's left is Florida tea.
When it mixes with the fresh Florida Spring water the tannins swirl, unable to dissolve they dance like clouds. It's the most magical sight! And I suggest everyone experience it at least once in their lives!
I hope you all had as relaxing a weekend as I did! Rejuvenated and ready to leeeean into the week! I spent every free moment frolicking in the water! AND I finally got to really test out my new @darkfin webbed swimming gloves! Two BIG thumbs up 👍👍 from me y'all!
