Leaving Portugal 🇵🇹 earlier today.
Only 3hrs later than expected departure time but that’s how it is with sailing, something you become very accustomed to, but a calm relaxed stress free departure nonetheless. The nice ‘n slow two week journey of half a thousand miles back into the Med to Cartagena has officially begun, and what a beautiful day to set off... Feels so good to be back on the big blue, I certainly have missed it... Portugal 🇵🇹 you have been far too kind, today I leave with a happy heart full of passion and grace, and a very clear mind. Thank you for your exceptional hospitality... See you in a year!...España 🇪🇸... I’m on my way...your adopted son is coming home... It’s a good day to have a good day...
I'm in the last month of my contract aboard the SLNC Moku Pahu. Throughout every contract, I try not to count each day specifically. At first I focus on ten day increments. Then the months start to sweep by and I forget to count; it becomes easy not to. Especially on this vessel, with the month-long sea passages, my watch in the middle of the night, then mirrored in the middle of the day, the endless paperwork and maintenance left to do that can only be accumulated over years of neglect, I have found myself lost in it all. Even with social media, it becomes too easy to forget about life at home. I see it through a screen as though I'm watching a television show, then turn it off to return to my reality. Maybe the reason I feel as if this world is a perfect fit is because I allow myself to be enveloped. I can daydream all I want about what I will do when I get off, but to dwell on what isn't and can't be right in front of you will drive you insane. What can you do but be here now? The life we lead defines us. Giving the best effort we can muster with what we have will only bring us up. It opens doors, giving us opportunities to expand our abilities, enabling us to grab hold of better opportunities. We just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

"You are the master of your own ship, pal. There are lots of people who fall into troubled waters and don't have the guts or the knowledge or the ability to make it to shore. They have nobody to blame but themselves." Futura, #Trieste 🛳⚓
