GATEWAY TO EVEREST
Namche Bazaar is the last bigger town in the Himalayan range and from here you can start various treks in different valleys or prepare for a climbing expedition. With its big market and shops you get everything you need for the next days of trekking. It is also the first stop while trekking through the region where you finally get out of the woods (pine trees still grow at over 3000m here) and see your first mountains with a height of over 6000m (in the background you can spot Kongde Ri with 6187m in height). #nepalnow#sagarmathanationalpark#khumbu#nepal8thwonder#nepal🇳🇵
The first time is always special. Seeing the tallest mountain in the world with your own eyes is a sobering experience, as you're whipped by the cold winds of the Khumbu valley - looking up at the pinnacle of achievement for many mountaineers, towering at a seemingly way too high angle against the sky.
Over my many years of working in Nepal it's crazy how you almost get used to views like this. So I was glad to bring my brother @rapparsven and great friend @emil.wesolowski along from @ivarstudios so we could marvel at it together while working on a documentary at its base. I wish @katjaado could've stayed longer, too.
At the end of the trip we also got a sudden visit from @matsjentzen, seen in this photo getting that first view of Mount Everest. Great to have you along.
