Meet Tugger. He was one of our first patients today. As you can see he was at first unimpressed with us. Just a short ball break later he was a champ getting in everyone's laps.
Wow.. it just occured to me that with Rocky joining the 'hood' just before Christmas we have been so busy with updating his medical status and integration that I never did a year in review post. So..here it goes - Believe it or not we actually started 2018 foster-free. Tex (our Hurricane Harvey boy from Houston) got adopted just before Christmas last year. Our first foster of the year was Tenley who arrived in late February. She was returned to PMAR when her family lost their home and she was sent to us for evaluation as she showed some behavior 'quirks'. She stayed with us until the end of May when she moved to Rochester with another foster. She is still waiting... Gus (the gianormous rottie) arrived a week later and stayed for 2 months. Oh Gus - what can I say about him. He needed way more behavior modification that we were able to provide. His unpredictability and willingness to attack people over toys combined with his 170lbs made him dangerous. I am sorry we couldn't do more for you Gus.... King, another rottie with questionable behavior came to us 3 days after we had Gus euthanized. What is that expression about getting right back on the horse? We have determined that King is not adoptable due to his hyper-reactivity to any sort of painful stimuli. Unfortunately this includes all vetting. We have been able to manage him thus far and continue to work on handling and building trust but if anything happens where he needs to be vetted I honestly dont know how he will fare. He will be a fantastic dog if we can ever get him over his inner demons. ...continued in comments
