Today at 10:30 on @PraisePhilly 107.9 HD2, lawyer/ critical race theorist @ATrulyGoldenMan on why the black community has been reluctant to call out #RKelly and what we must do now. Listen at or call to weigh in at 484.270.8174
So apparently @imshandadenyce who you MAY remember for getting cheated on and disclosing her own issues on social media with her husband (former bad boy ent artist) @willie_taylor#lhhla thinks the RKelly situation is a joke, she truly supports him or she is making a horrible decision (being a mother of a little girl herself) to use this topic to bring MORE ATTENTion to herself? Even if this was meant to be a joke...In our opinion it is not funny. #muterkelly and those who support him. #muterkelly#shandadenyce#willietaylor#lhhla#vh1#rkelly

This was me at 14. Precocious. Vulnerable. Naive. I thought I was grown. Just like all of those girls who became prey to #RKelly. After finally catching up on the #SurvivingRKelly documentary this weekend, I feel sick. It’s all I keep thinking about. There is so much to unpack in this exposé, but one of the most horrifying aspects for me was recognizing how complicit our culture was in the making of this monster. It shined a light on a society that collectively turned a blind eye to protect him. We compartmentalized every disgusting data point to hold space for his music—for decades we valued this man’s music more than these girls’ lives. In doing so, we all were part of excusing predatory behavior. I am in awe of #dreamhampton and every survivor who had the courage to speak out against a man who has operated above the law and a culture that is still willing to dismiss his abusive behavior. Even after this documentary aired, I am reading stories about the spike in streams of his music (chilling). But because of this important piece of work, so many of us are waking up and holding space for these victims. When @caradelevingne spoke out against him and in favor of these black women and girls, she lost 50k followers (crazy). Well, I’m ready and willing to lose anyone who isn’t standing for the safety of women and girls. #MuteRKelly
