Mabel had barely stepped out of the bathroom when she overheard Danny complaining (again!) about something she had done (or did'nt do quite right). Again!
She didnt even wait to hear his complete sentence. She already knew how it would end.
This is one thing Daniel, her darling husband did that angers her so much! argh!!! It had been a good day; waking up to an 'i believe in you' note from him, morning prayers with the kids (that rarely happened), helping to get them ready for school, rewarding him with a nicely packed brunch for work and a 'thanks for all you do' note to go with............I mean, it had been a good day.
Right now there was nothing 'darling' about what he was doing. Why won't he just let it go. Must i be crucified for this one thing i did'nt do right? gosh!! Mabel was fuming already. Apparently her 'village people' wanted today to end differently.
But then, just as if a light switch went on in her brain, after fuming for what seemed like forever ( she was there for just a few seconds though), She readjusted herself, stepped out of the bathroom door, walked right to where Danny was standing, looked him straight in the eye; 'Remember the note from this morning? i meant every word there. You rock my world. and thanks for loving me just the way i am'. Danny standing there, shocked! could barely respond. All he could think of was; 'is this really my wife? no defense statement, no perfectly articulated (attack) response?
All he could say was:
'erm, erm, b...but..... 'shh, no buts'. She completed his sentence
Then the (real) lights went off.
All relationship have their challenges.
People with great relationships/marriages are not immuned from these challenges.
Whether you're on your way to starting one or you're already on your journey to having a great relationship. Wherever you are,
Today, this week,
Choose not to be an agent of 'thorn' in your relationship. Do that intentionally
Do not focus on the thorns. Instead,
inhale the fragrance and celebrate the roses.
Celebrate the roses!!
