Another #recordvice restoration. cleaned, degreased then greased in all the right places and then a nice coat of boiled linseed oil. This one is available for sale but as it weighs over 55lbs I’d say it’s collection only... #madeinengland#ukknifemaker
When they don't sell what you need. Working on a tool rest this evening for the specific task of hollowing out some deep holly pots. Once welded this should give much better support to the tool when at the bottom of the pot, reducing vibration and the chance of catches. @selwyn.house
Another evening project... Last night, I finally broke down and cut a hole in my Nicholson style bench to install this nice Record 52 1/2 ED vise. I picked it up used several years ago, but finally got around to installing it. Why did I wait so long???

Is Vise Collecting a Vice?
A Record, a Durex and a Wilton....Score! 3 of 5 in one pickin' trip.
After cleaning up the old metal workbench, I discovered the lower shelf was made of mahogany. Guess it’s maker had good taste in wood. When I first saw it, I didn’t even see the bench under the mass of tools. #beforeandafter#metalwork#mahogany#recordvice

I’m finally one of those fancy people with two vices on their bench. 😂
The Vice Record branded as “Unbreakable” way back in 1935! I’m unsure on the production year of this one, but it’s somewhere between 1935 & 1950! The 75 model was one of few that where made from cast steel and not cast iron, so they came with the eye catching red paint work and not blue!
This is what you call a vice! Ready for many more years of use and abuse #RecordVice#No75
This big unit arrived today, 30kg of English steel. Quality old tools, cool 😎 #recordvice

Mmmm... new toys. Picked this beauty up off of Craigslist. Cost less than another visit to urgent care. 😂 Now, I just need to figure out how I’m going to mount it. 🤔 Does anyone have experience with this vice? I have some questions. #recordvice#woodworking#newtoys
