I am unbelievably excited to read My Plain Jane! It has been at the top of my TBR since I read My Lady Jane last winter! I cannot fathom how fast time has gone by since it came out... LIKE WHY HAVEN’T I READ IT YET???? If you couldn’t tell, I am very excited! —
I finished the draft of my play that I have been working on for months today, which was a complete relief. I can feel the weight slipping off of my shoulders now! That means I will have lots of reading time before the next round of edit come and I am back at it. I have finally gotten back to reading ACOWAR, which is really great! I was really loving it a few weeks ago when I was reading it, but with the college program and tech week/show week for the show I was doing sound for I didn’t get a chance to continue reading it! I am currently on page 402 out of 699, so we are getting there! —
Other than that there is not much going on it my life. My cat has been extra loving since I was away for a month. He is really trying to make up for lost time. I will be walking around and he will just start crying at me. It is cute, but can be utterly annoying!
If you're a grisha, what would your power be? .
So I took a test at their official site and the result is I'm a tidemaker 🌊🌊 if you dont know what that is, basically its like water elemental.
Book: Six of Crows // Leigh Bardugo // ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ .
Summary: a thief + a wraith + a witch + a pyrotechnic + a soldier + a gambler. Six members, one incredible heist.
REVIEW: this book blew me away! I have no expectations at all especially after the whole debacle with the Grisha trilogy (wasn't a huge fan of the series) but this book just brought me back into the grishaverse. Leigh bardugo has a knack with building a complex, anti hero-esque character that seems very human (I'm talking about all the characters in this book and the Darkling).
I think the whole reason why I love this book is because the centre of the attention is not only the characters but also the job. An almost seemingly impossible heist into the most dangerous vault in the land. Its espionage-con artist-theft theme fills me with adrenaline it feels like watching the mission impossible movie but with better characters and world building 😂
I love the characters because there's no main protagonist. I mean sure Kaz and Inej plays a major and essential part of the book but the book is split evenly to all these 6 characters that it feels like a book tributed to the amazing side characters where they're all the heroes. They're all the narrator to their own stories in this same scenarios. That ending is a cliffhanger for me and it made me picked up the second book right away! .
Day 20 #Wethebooksaug18 | Favorite side character: all characters in Six of Crows (but if I have to pick, Inej)
Starting the week off right with @davidsedaris’s wickedly funny book, Calypso • “When he buys a beach house on the Carolina coast, Sedaris envisions long, relaxing vacations spent playing board games and lounging in the sun with those he loves most. And life at the Sea Section, as he names the vacation home, is exactly as idyllic as he imagined, except for one tiny, vexing realization: it's impossible to take a vacation from yourself.
With Calypso, Sedaris sets his formidable powers of observation toward middle age and mortality. Make no mistake: these stories are very, very funny--it's a book that can make you laugh 'til you snort, the way only family can. Sedaris's powers of observation have never been sharper, and his ability to shock readers into laughter unparalleled. But much of the comedy here is born out of that vertiginous moment when your own body betrays you and you realize that the story of your life is made up of more past than future.
This is beach reading for people who detest beaches, required reading for those who loathe small talk and love a good tumor joke. Calypso is simultaneously Sedaris's darkest and warmest book yet--and it just might be his very best.”

✨how’s your Monday going? Do you look forward to getting mail? LOL .
⠀⠀Today is Middle Grade Monday ! Our recommendation is ⠀"Prisoner of Ice and Snow" by Ruth Lauren. This was recommended by Celia McMahon! ⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Valor is under arrest for the attempted murder of the crown prince. Her parents are outcasts from the royal court, her sister is banished for theft of a national treasure, and now Valor has been sentenced to life imprisonment at Demidova, a prison built from stone and ice.
But that's exactly where she wants to be. For her sister was sent there too, and Valor embarks on an epic plan to break her out from the inside.
No one has escaped from Demidova in over three hundred years, and if Valor is to succeed she will need all of her strength, courage and love. If the plan fails, she faces a chilling fate worse than any prison ... An unforgettable story of sisterhood, valour and rebellion, Prisoner of Ice and Snow will fire you up and melt your heart all at once. Perfect for fans of Katherine Rundell, Piers Torday and Cathryn Constable.
I enjoyed this book so much. I hope you do too! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
ESSENCE (The Essence Chronicles #1)
💬: I received and e-book of this incredible book from the author herself @hayleygabrielleauthor with the intentions of doing an honest review.
What an amazing ride! This story follows the relatable Abbey when she founds herself transported to Ethra another “world” where she learns about the Essences. The Essences are “people” that represent some personalities traits, we meet some of them during the story and I’m so excited to find more about them. I fell in love with Abbey’s sense of responsibility that she acquires throughout the story and how she learns to just let it go, let her feel things she wants without having to thinking too much. Belvinder is the perfect example of a perfect “guide”, because he is mysterious and also such a cinnamon roll that deserves to be happy (and he is such a father figure to Zac that it makes me emotional), while at the same time helping Abbey on her journey. Zac’s first appearance in the book made me think about the first time we see Aragorn in the movies of LOTR and that made me so excited and happy, Zac is one of my favorite characters of this series, with all his smiles and dimples. The “minor” essences were so funny to read them interact, pessimism and optimism were so adorable! And honesty got on my nerves but thats just because she was blunt about things you shouldn't be. Thorne well, he is that character you hate to like? I don’t know how to explain but I think he is intriguing and because of his essence he doesn’t have a place only in Good or Evil, but actually in between.
PS: ETHRA IS AMAZING AND HAVE GOLDEN RAINS?! goals
I intend to obsess over this book for awhile and maybe talk alot about it with my friends until they stop being my friends. lol
