// In the photography industry [or really any industry that utilizes social media marketing] it is often advised to look as busy as possible. The busier you look, the more successful people will think that you are, the more they will want to book you. But even though 2019 so far has actually been quite a bit busier than I expected [work and not work stuff] I have hated the idea of trying to flaunt and exaggerate that INSTEAD OF talking about the things that REALLY MATTER TO ME. Because even though things have gotten busier, I value healthy rest more highly than I ever have before. Even though I’m booking lots of dreamy weddings that I’m pumped about, I value the moments that give my life value [ones I am capturing AND ones I am partaking in] more than ever before! I value having not work days, having no phone days and weeks, and being with the people I love so much more than ever before! So I don't want to flaunt my busy in this space, I want to live my life and share pieces of it here that can give smiles, create connections, and inspire. This place is just a space we all capture snippets of each other’s lives, it doesn’t even come close to relaying all that all of our [i mean all of you too and anyone else you follow on Instagram!] full, chaotic, beautiful lives have in the making. ✨

Another of Sadie and Gavin to fuel your day with love. ✨
Oh my goodnesssssss 🥰
I had the most amazing day capturing Katy and Brett’s wedding on Saturday! ✨ These two are such a blast and an easy couple to get along with! Katy is a friend of mine from vet tech college and I shared lots of laughs with her... swipe to see what their personalities are really like! 🙈🥰🙊 so grateful that I got to be there and capture their special day! ☺️

Connections, that's where the love is. Hands have always been a big obsession of mine - they tell stories, hold memories, comfort loved ones and bear the brunt of anxiety. These hands have a softness that I seek out, that comfort I was just talking about. Before ceremonies is beginning to be a favorite part of weddings to me.
Okay so when I thought of the Dominican Republic I thought it would be similar in weather to Hawaii or parts of Colombia. Yeah no, it is WAY hotter. The humidity is crazy high and makes things a little less than pleasant. This Alaskan is not used to this kind of heat 😂 No AC in our Airbnb and the fan only does so much, sleeping sucks. Ready for AC at the Hard Rock!! But so far loving every minute of this gorgeous place!

Dad took Gary and I hunting once. I've been since I was a toddler with minimal successes. That's not the point of hunting though. I love being quiet and still in the middle of the woods. Watching wildlife pass mostly undisturbed.... 🦃
Gary and I set up in a blind. We didn't see any deer, but I was so excited to get him out in the woods and show him a piece of what I loved so much. I probably told him what every sound was: A squirrel, a hawk, a "probably an armadillo," cicadas, frogs, and some of the other birds. 🐦🐍🐜🐢 .
I probably explained the "bewitching hour," and how you could tell you were in it by the silence that creeps up on you--the kind you don't notice until it's too late and you're in the same trance as the woods--and the shadows that start to dance and play tricks on your mind.
This is what I call “the wedding day portrait.” There’s nothing terribly exciting or romantic about it BUT this is the photo your family, future children/grandchildren will see and remember. This is the photo you’ll most likely hang on the wall for everyone to see. Make sure to get a standard smiling faces forward photo on your wedding day. It’s so important! ☺️
// The final count down for the final exam makes me think even more of my following projects. I can’t wait for the days of summer, happiness and the fresh smell of rain. I could imagine the love through rain drops and an umbrella full of happiness. Could you imagine that too? Or maybe you want it for real? 🌟

Re-editing old photos and feeling so grateful for the people who’ve let me tell a piece of their story...some once, and many time and time again through multiple seasons of life...senior, engagement, wedding, gender reveal, maternity, newborn, family, anniversary, etc. After 10 years of enjoying photography as a side “job,” I’ve taken it full time this year in a new city.
Looking back on photos leaves me encouraged because God never stops writing beautiful stories, therefore we will always need photography. Documenting what God is doing right now is the best way to revisit the moment down the road when we find ourselves needing a little courage.
If you’ve invested in me along the way, THANK YOU! You’re the reason I have the joy of now freelancing full time. If you have friends in the middle TN area, I’d be so happy for you to share my work! I’m very excited for the rest of 2019 and am now booking 2020 weddings. Thank you bunches from the bottom of my heart! Here’s to forever telling your God stories.

I remember when I first started photography. I was into these big poses and most times I would show up at a session not even knowing my couples.
Names!!! 🤦🏻♀️ “Can you put your arm around her waist?”. That was me voiding to say his name.
I knew my lighting and my equipment. That’s all that mattered. Taking beautiful pictures.
Being behind a camera is so much more than perfect lighting, great tones and staying up to date with your equipment, it’s about connection, confidence and making your client feel at ease. That is why I truly believe in building relationships with my clients. 😍
