I'm trying my hand at resin coating at 3D printed parts, and I am pretty impressed with the results. I'm currently using Bondo Fiberglass resin as it's not very viscous and therefore will even out over the surface. However, if you use this type of resin, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use an appropriate respirator in a well ventilated area, preferably outdoors.

Bit of a sidestep from on-set photos...
A few years back I started bidding on and collecting props from the films I love. I figured since most of my followers are film-people some of you may find them interesting.
First up is by far the coolest piece I have. Rooney Mara’s screen-worn motorcycle helmet from David Fincher’s 2001 The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo adaptation. The helmet is 1 of 3 that were used in the production, but the only one custom modded for Mara’s spiked hair and giant earrings. As such it is the most prominently featured of the helmets - the other two were worn exclusively by stunt performers. It can be seen throughout the film being worn or carried by Mara, or even as set dec in different locations. Designed by costume designer @mztsummerville

Find the right balance.
To find what is worth you must know the bad part of things. But it is my way. .
Encuentra el equilibrio adecuado.
Para encontrar lo que vale la pena debes conocer la parte mala de las cosas. Pero es mi camino.
Got quite a few messages I've the past 48hours asking why I felt the need to remake my Hanzo mask? What was wrong with it? Etc etc. So here is a straight up side by side comparison of the two.
The first one was totally acceptable, but I want this costume to be as good as my budget will allow, so here's what I did: completely tore apart the original to modify and take patterns from (I don't keep patterns so it bites me in the ass regularly) I've made the jawline more defined, it's now less rounded so it will hopefully make my face shape look less like a potato, I've obviously added Lighting too. Originally I just added strips of 2mm foam where the orange sections would be around the jawline, but I thought it looked shit. I did neater bevels on my edges to give it a cleaner look and last but not least (you might not be able to see it) there are two 'vent holes' under each ear piece on the cheeks. Version 1 these were just outlined with a soldering iron, in Version 2 i cut the entire oval shape out with a scalpel, recessed it in the hole and re-glued it in place to give it a proper recessed look rather than a badly soldered oval line 😂
These sorts of corrections/improvements that I know I can easily make are what keep me up at night if I don't do them 😂 I once remade my entire Genji helmet at 2am 😂 in weird, I know!
