Having a preschooler who is well versed with varied colours and shapes is a plus. And it is even better, when the little one selects smart and apt outfits to dress up for the occasion/time.
Hence, often it becomes quite a task to find the right kind of fabric, design, quality and value for the price. And not to forget the kids likeability factor!
When @closetchamps sent us their hamper which had a kurta-pajama set, a bandhgala jacket, a nightsuit and a cute little bowtie, all for my son, we all just loved it.
The fabrics were super soft, made of cotton and had a cool, funky print in line with Ayaansh's preference.
The entire nightwear range from #closetchamps has a wide range of floral and fruit prints and is visually appealing to children. The fabric is cotton making it super comfortable to wear at all weather too. The fit of the cloth was perfect too. The cute little colorful heart prints not only appealed to us visually but the quality spoke for itself.
Even after the wash, the print is vibrant and the fabric is soft as the first time making it worth the price.
We are yet to try other outfits from the hamper(as we are waiting for the right occasion) but I must say that we do love the elegance of the kurta and beautiful print of the bandhgala.
In the above images, you can see the naughty shades of #AyaanshSrinath as I click his photos after which he had a good night's sleep in his new nightwear.
We push the importance of being present and in the moment when we dance (take class to learn choreography, freestyle, jam, compete, etc.) I admire dancers, students and teachers, for their confidence and passion of expressing themselves with their bodies. These people are strong and beautiful people, but also have insecurities about their body-shape, the way they execute movements, creating the “perfect” line, struggle to retain choreography, etc. Being in the moment means forgetting these thoughts and allowing oneself to make “mistakes”, accept one’s growth and individuality.
This project was made for the purpose of capturing a moment - Chelli’s moment. When I watch her and my colleagues dance, I’m in awe and can’t help but smile. In my eyes, they are so powerful in their element, but they can forget that about themselves sometimes.
I simply supplied tools and basic instructions about mark-making, but this gorgeous print was all her. Before we started, she was nervous and told me, “I don’t want to ruin your project.” I laughed and scolded her, “YOU CANT F IT UP BECAUSE THIS IS ABOUT YOU, YOUR EXPRESSION & YOUR CHOREOGRAPHY! If you do, THAT’S ON YOU!”
I wanted Chelli to see her choreography in a different medium, a permanent medium. She is an artist, in control of her movements and there is no such thing as “mistakes”. The print is a reflection of her movements - the way in which she applies pressure and weight to gain momentum to lightly travel with the music.
She is unique and she is beautiful.
Thank you to @catbaoo for capturing, @clarissa.zy.tan for assisting and @ra_chelli for being yourself! These girls were crucial to making this project and yes, I cried. I did this back in 2013 and to be able to do it again was a dream.

hello lovely new followers! I thought I had better introduce myself . . . I am an illustrator and author living in Scotland with my family. I am mum to a 6 yr old boy and a 4 yr old girl. My first solo picture book, Blackbird, Blackbird, was published in 2016 by Hodder children's book. Since then I have worked on almost 30 book projects, ranging from boards books and picture books to pop-up books and natural history. I absolutely love my work, and feel very fortunate to be able to have a job that brings me joy. I currently work from home in an open plan space, but we are moving this summer and I will finally get a room to myself - hurray!
I love to hear from people and try to make time to answer questions, so do feel free to DM me. Thank you for following!
