Homemade - Zero Waste - Vegan POUTINE ! 🌱🇨🇦 Everything is made from scratch! 😄👍 I used the “cheese” from my famous vegan cheese wheel recipe (check out my Highlights for the recipe) To make the cheese curds I simply cut little balls from the wheel that I soaked in a brine for a day or two. The taste and the texture is perfect for poutine! I made a gravy starting from dried oyster mushrooms that I had and added so garlic, onion, etc. Then I made my favorite oil-free, 25 mins French fries recipe. And VOILA! I’ll definitely make this one again! For those who aren’t familiar with poutine, it is a famous French-Canadian dish (I’m French Canadian, so obviously had to make this in a vegan version at some point!) Over the weekend I was finally able to catch up with a friend and make it to Nosh Kitchen Bar all in the same night. We enjoyed a plate of poutine that was one of the best I’ve ever had... and I like to think I’ve had quite a bit of poutine. The French fries were crisp and salty, and the cheese curds were beginning to melt just a little bit in between that and the gravy lathered on top. To make ourselves feel a little better about the helping of poutine we’d indulged in as an appetizer, we ordered their Big Tuna Wedge Sandwich as salads. Our conversation had been silenced as we munched on the rest of our amazing food. We were both full from the poutine, but couldn’t stop eating the salad. So... Deliciousness. So much deliciousness!
Deer burger with stewed strawberries and carrots, fried onions, and a horseradish mayo. I don't like horseradish but this was perfectly balanced. Wow.
Rabbit gyoza. Pretty good. Not like the burger but solid.
Poutine fondue. Fondue cheese melted into the beer gravy. It was a bit one dimensional for my taste but was greatly improved with a little dip into the burger sauce or the soy dip for the gyoza 😋.

Crispy fries, BBQ chicken and an overload of cheese. A preparation that used to be the favourite of workers in South Africa, is now a popular recipe, the world over. And this one, specifically, is quite an amazing preparation. Foodporn it is!
