The third in my series of painting faces which still needs a good name.
I thought that it might be helpful to use a black and white photo as a reference when painting in black and white. Google found me this lovely lady.
This time I only used Ivory Black and Titanium White. I still want color though and so she is on watercolor paper painted with a mid-toned greenish ground. I sort of like the look of the green coming through. I am still struggling with the acrylic paint 🎨 Maybe if I get faster at painting the quick drying won’t bother me so much.
I usually paint monsters and surly old wizards but my next illustration’s character is going to be less bearded and wrinkly. So I tried to do a study in the style of an awesome artist @ilikeyoursensitivity who handles delicate features really well. I stumbled in places but I think studying how they handle certain features will pay off in my next piece. Anyway, check them out and send them some love! .
