My fascination with plants has an expanded range of enchantment. From the medicines they share, to the stories they tell, from there grandiose stature.
Forming relationships with these botanicals are so personal. Why are we called to a particular plant and someone else, another?
Some plants linger in our DNA from what our ancestors used long ago, it is the familiar. Some shoot out colors that are captivating to the eye and we yearn to know more, some have aromatics that travel through the wind and gently grace our noses. Whatever it is, this is the magic I yearn for in my relationships to plants and in my clinical practice. This is what I am inspired by to share with others. #believeinthemagic
She is a giant bougainvillea. Last winter she lost her top to a hard freeze and all her top magenta petals were drained of color and turned grey. But her roots run deep and by spring she realized it was just a few weak branches on the top that she lost. She shed those grey petals and grew back her magenta petals bigger and stronger, reaching higher toward the sun than ever before. She’s too mighty. A little freeze can’t tame her. She is wild and free.
The hunny buns and I admire her grace and beauty. I’ve been watching her flower for weeks and has a few buds left. A month ago, I was worried that I wasn’t watering her enough. Her leaves were beginning to turn black. I gave her more water. She continues to be resilient and generous. She reminds me to stay positive during difficult climates and times. 💚
He was five when he got a few of these little spiders (plantlets of the spider plant) from the apartment garden. He hurried up to plant them in some pots with his tiny hands telling me that they grow into large plants which I did not know. To my surprise they quickly picked up new leaves, reached their complete growth and produced new spiders all in a few months. We then started fixing more spiders in many other pots in our little balcony garden. #plantsinspire#paintingplants#artistsoninstagram#artistlife#art#painting#gardeninspiration#spiderplant
We're collaborating with local artist & illustrator @jordangraceowens for a special project. Jordan is decorating a small selection of our signature buff terracotta pots with her original drawings available exclusively in our storefront in May. We literally screamed with joy when seeing them and can't wait to share a sneak peek soon.
