In another life, I used to use photoshop for my artistic pursuits. Photomanipulation was my main thing. Far from being an expert, I like to think I did alright. Here are some of my faves. I think these are about 6 years old, probably the last time I got right into photoshop .
Reverie, the condition of being lost in thought. The reverie Zen garden; a condition of losing connection to the university campus and finding yourself through the mindful state of emptiness. Within this space, viewers regain focus on themselves and forget the world they exist in, they are awakened to face nature and their true self.
Water separates the visitor from interior and exterior spaces, but cleanses and purifies the mind and soul as they enter the space below. The movement of water is a measure of time in the garden, each ripple a reminder of the moment. Mizu (Water) Buddhism always considered water the most apt metaphor for human existence, springing up, gathering strength in its downhill race to disappear calmly into the sea, to be reborn again as rain. Water in the garden creates negative space where nothing else resides. This reflects the teaching of mu, which is the counter-balance to everything, or nothingness, that sought-after goal of Zen meditation.
