You can look at a picture for a week and never think of it again. You can also look at a picture for a second and think of it all your life. – Joan Miro

Last week I was a guest on The Master Photography Podcast with Brent Bergherm.
It was a bit of a last minute interview only arranged the night before, but by God did we cover some topics, we talked for well over an hour and most of it covering LinkedIn.
To provide a simple definition, a JPEG file is « one » interpretation of the RAW file. The RAW contains all the information of the picture, and then the JPEG is a template of settings as low light, contrast, sharpness, etc that is applied to the file and then exported. The result is a picture that has fixed settings that you can’t really change.
By keeping the RAW file over the JPEG, you keep FULL control over those settings and can modify your picture in post processing as much as you want. This is why I recommend using RAW file if you want to become a better photographer, the post processing is one of the strongest power you can have to improve your already amazing composition skills.
The best software for post processing for me is Lightroom, and costs 20€ a month.

It’s a special #photoeditfriday because it’s the unofficial start of Summer! Today’s image was taken in Chatham where I spent three glorious days attending the @luxuryhomedesignsummit. One of the evenings I went to dinner with friends and we ate at this charming inn. We arrived close to 8pm and the camera “read” the dusk light as blue. As usual, the perspective was also off. (I had already had a glass or two of wine so that may have been more my fault than the camera). With editing, I corrected the white balance to remove the blue cast, straightened the perspective and removed some staining on the slate entrance. I also lightened up the flower planters and grass. Swipe left to see the original. Have photos you need fixed? DM me for details. #photoeditingservice#fixmyphoto
