While I’ve been taking a ton of pics of Ati-Atihan, I’ve been considering how I shoot. Too often, Western photographers look with a gaze that exoticizes or others non-Western cultures.
As a Filipina-American woman who has dated white men and worked in the male-dominated film industry, I’ve felt the effect of this on some level personally and observed what that means socio-politically in the US and Europe.
What I’ve seen in the past few days is a burst of color and beauty. Ati-Atihan celebrates the native cultures and history of the Philippines, but amidst it all, the Philippines is a modern country. It is global and it is connected - possibly more than small town America.
That said, I hope I can take in and observe what is around me in a way that is respectful and conscious. ✨✨✨

And just like that, my 10 days in Manila are over. It really is the people that make it, and it was great meeting my Manila colleagues, spending time with my teams, getting to know my clients, and hanging out with the AU crew! Till next time!
Launch date is coming so soon. 🌱
Watering is the biggest concern for those buying potted plants, and incorrect watering is reported to be the cause of plants wilting 80% of the time. Alleviate concerns with a Sustee ‘watering checker’ that tell plant owner when to water their plants.
You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret to your success is found in your daily routine.
What are the most important parts of your daily routine?
Mine is how I start my morning. If I don’t start my routine off with writing in my gratitude journal, drinking lemon water and matcha and going to Pilates first thing then the rest of the day always feel slightly off and not as productive!
