Meet Spike and Leo. They are siblings to Lelani and Panther. You might recall our previous intro of those cats and the description of the 80 year old woman who helped trap them in Odessa. While Panther was quickly adopted from the café, sweet Lelani is still here and very glad to have the familiar faces of her siblings joining her. Spike is a super snuggler and loves to be near people. He does not want to be alone. Ever. He also has a small heart-shaped spot on his back. Some people wear their heart on their sleeve, but Spike wears his on his back! Leo is similar to Panther in that he is also a bit shy until he warms up, but then he’s quite easy going and will gladly accept belly rubs. And just like Panther, he has a beautiful fur coat! Meet Will Smith. Let us tell you a story all about how this cat’s life got flipped, turned upside down. In central Columbia, born and raised, in the back lot is where he spent most of his days. Chillin out max, and relaxin on cool, playing with his siblings outside without rule. When a couple of cats who were up to no good started making trouble in the neighborhood. He was seen by one business owner and the rescuers came and said, “we’re sending you to BCAC so you can be tamed.” 😹 Okay... that’s as far as we could go. But really, Will and his three siblings were discovered playing behind a local business when they were only 3 months old. A rescuer trapped a two of them right away and BCAC got to work socializing the brother and sister, who have now been adopted. Two weeks later, Will and his sister were trapped. Will has always been pretty easy going, so he socialized quickly. Will easily fits into any environment and really likes other kitties. Come see this sweet boy now that he’s living in “kitty Bel Air” at the café. Meet Mickey D. He was a small kitten who was rescued thanks to a unique friend, an old, decrepit raccoon who was definitely not afraid to steal food from volunteers trying to trap a kitten. The only time they saw the kitten was with the raccoon! The kitten was so small he wasn’t able trip the trap door on the cage to close, but the raccoon nudged the kitten into the trap, tripped the door, and viola! Mickey D has successfully lived in several foster homes where he was showered with love and attention. And now he enjoys giving that love back to visitors at the café, and always with these wide eyes as he takes in all the sights around him. So, last week we failed to include Edison in our push to adopt the rest of our original “dirty dozen.” And that’s because last month she returned to a foster home; after five months of living at the café, she transitioned from being super shy, to a total love bug, and then territorial towards all the new cats circulating through the café. Meet Roller & Dozer. They are the part of the construction crew. Their mom, Emery, wandered onto a farmer's land to give birth in a barn. BCAC rescued all of them. They were all very sick and took a long time to recover. Roller, in particular, kept losing weight. BCAC thought they might lose him, but he bounced back! The mama cat and one sibling have already been adopted, but all the rest are destined to come to the café. Dozer is unique in his coloring with his black stripe. He will literally “doze” you over with attention. Roller is slightly smaller guy who is always under your feet and ready for love. This whole litter is truly fabulous and would love to build a new life with an active family. Meet Lelani and Panther. These siblings were found last summer living with a feral colony living behind a sweet lady's house in Odessa, MO. The house was on a very busy road, and she worried about their safety. At 80 yrs old, she was savvy in TNR and trapped a few on her own! She did need help with some of the trapping, but mostly help socializing and getting them medical care. They quickly went from scared, feral kittens to the happiest and snuggliest little loves! It's possible Lelani has a mild form of Cerebellar Hypoplasia, but her mobility has improved so much. Lelani thrives when being held, and she is constantly purring and kneading. Her favorite activity is to drink from and play in the bathroom sink. 😹 Panther instantly loved becoming a house cat from the very the first day of being trapped. He's playful, fast, and will actually play fetch with his favorite toy! But he also enjoy cuddles and belly rubs.
