I held your body
close to mine,
you turned your head
inches away from my face
staring into my pain
being born from yours.
you loved it
how I cried for you
because this is
what your mind told you,
that every human
who came across your path
owed you for all the scars
this world forced you
to live with.
oh how you enjoyed
watching the wonders
of another person
becoming bleeding art for you. (b.k)
"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" - President Donald Trump
The most close minded and bigoted among us - the ones who vilify immigrants, asylum seekers, people of color, the poor, and who regularly disrespect people and cultures around the world - the ones who say: “if you don’t like America, just leave...good luck finding a better place”
are almost always the ones who have never had the courage to leave their little bubbles of existence. They have never traveled to other places or countries to experience for themselves the richness and beauty of the human experience and of breathtaking cultures beyond America’s borders.
And for those who have traveled abroad, how many have stayed outside of a touristy hotel or resort and connected with the communities in these countries?
And, as a result, they are missing out - and are wrong in their assumptions about the inferiority of others and the superiority of America.
The warmth and genuine generosity and family-like hospitality of the people of Senegal has again confirmed in my mind and heart what I always feel when I travel abroad... That the path to peace around the globe will only occur when we decide to step out of our comforts zones, open our minds and hearts with humility, and truly connect with one another.
Only then, will we see our shared humanity and see one another globally as brothers and sisters.
A lot of people tend to get really mad when someone asks for their space. Whenever people hear the word, the first thing they seem to think that it’s an excuse. It’s true though, a lot of people tend to use it as an excuse to avoid or break away from things. However, many times, people just really just need a time out.
In relationships, family , friendships , workspace, when people demand for their space , do your best to give them even when it doesn’t appeal to you. This helps them manage displaced emotions , helps them recharge, process information and it’s respectful.
Everyone needs some ME time .
