Reasons why I love dahl 🌟
🔅 it’s easy to make: lentils/coconut milk/soak that’s IT! 🔅it’s cheap! Even if you make it with organic ingredients 🌱 🔅 its nutritious! Lentils are an excellent source of fibre, folate & plant based protein 🔅 it can feed you for DAYS - Ive had this since last week and eaten dahl 4 times (today was the last of it 😢) 🔅 you can add whatever veggies you like and bulk it up even more. Last week I added kale, today I added baby spinach and red onion. You might do mushrooms and broccoli and all variations are delicious!
If you are on a budget, lentil dahl is DEFINITELY one to try, see comments for my *serves 4 hungry humans* recipe 🌼✨🧡
One of the bonuses of being part of @thewell_bondi community is the delicious food available from the cafe. This is the Veg Plate with caramelised pumpkin, mushrooms, fermented veg and a poached egg. Absolutely delicious and getting me through a super busy day!

Chocolate protein oats!! Such a perfect winter comfort meal. Although it’s really exciting knowing that winter is over very soon 💕💕 These @uncletobys oats had extra @tropeaka cacao added to them, just because chocolate is bomb 🍫🍫
#funfact did you know that cacao has an abundance of antioxidants which not only help protect against free radicals but also help to delay ageing 🤓🤓

Do you see them and hear them? At the top of the trees 🌲 2 Great Horned Owls 🦉 🦉 on my morning hike. Being there in the pitch black an hour before sunrise is the only way you’ll ever get to meet them, as these brilliant warriors only hunt and show themselves when man is not around or awake. Walking into the darkness to find the gems. iPhone needs an infrared and sonar setting so I can better capture like those owls.
I’ve not posted in a while. There’s a few reasons.
1. I’m on holiday.
2. I’ve been too busy eating and drinking my own bodyweight in muffins and coffee.
3. I’m relaxing and forgetting all about work. Basically zero stress.
But, as much as there are reasons for me not posting, there are also reasons for this post.
One reason is to show off my one and only catalogue pose. Too old to change career? 🤔
The main reason is that even though I’ve not trained for a week, had extremely long flights, and not moved for the first 48 hours of my trip, I’ve still managed to maintain the same leanness and weight I left the UK with. How?
Walking. I’ve literally walked everywhere. Over the past few days alone I’ve covered over 60,000 steps wandering the streets of Melbourne. That’s a pretty significant increase over what I would of done back in the UK.
I’ve also slept. My average sleep back home is around 5 hours on a good night, whereas relaxing on my hols my average is up closer to 8 hours a night.
The moral of the post is never underestimate the power of sleep, rest and recovery to help with your goals, and if you can make a conscious decision to walk a little more you’re onto a winner.
So as I wait at the airport for my flight back to Sydney I’ll leave you to scroll through some pretty cool street art found down the lanes in Melbourne.
Glutamine: (L-Gluatine, D-Glutamine) The most abundant free amino acid utilized by the body in biosynthesis of proteins, this substance provides an important role in human immunity, intestinal/digestive health by supporting intestinal functions within it's cells, and skeletal-muscular performance through this process. I use it for recovery post workouts and for focus and energy for the following day's activities. I mix it in my mint tea in the evening.

The right Morning Rituals help put us in a positive frame of mind to get the most out of the day ahead and they are even more important for us women in the run up to our periods when we can feel out of balance emotionally 😡😢😩
But did you know that monthly irritability and mood swings are often down to underlying sex hormone imbalances?
One of the most common sex hormone imbalances is “oestrogen dominance” which basically means there is an excess of oestrogen relative to progesterone.
As well as underpinning some types of PMS, this imbalance is often found in many other female health problems including fibroids, endometriosis and even some cancers.
The good news is, with the right diet plan, natural supplements and lifestyle shifts, you can rebalance your hormones and tackle these symptoms at the level of their root causes.
Get in touch if you’re interested in finding out more about how you can achieve this with my one on one online health coaching programme 💪🏼 .

I'm tired of diets, and restrictions, and cutting this or that out. It doesn't last! I'm sorry, but a life without bread or wine sounds miserable to me. #nothankyou
Life is all about balance. Work, play, food. We need #balance to stay sane and successful.
I have a seriously amazing solution to any unproductive eating habits you may have. No fasting, no restrictions, no cutting out food groups. Just plain healthy habits. Hey, if you happen to like a specific diet that cuts out everything wonderful in this world, that's great. But it's not for me.
So, if you're like me, and you want to eat healthy amazing food, but you also want a treat now and again, drop an emoji! Let's talk and let's stop the diet cycle together. I have a mindful eating group starting on the 27th that you won't want to miss out on.
This week i started a 6 week challenge with @burraneerfitness to burn 5% fat which I carry only around my middle. I've never been to a gym, or been put on a "diet" (except when i was 12yo due to high cholesterol from eating a high animal protein and junk foot diet), but I am now on the Whole 30 diet. The first 2 weeks are to cut out grains, sugar and animal products. Not so hard when I am already vegan and mostly gluten free, and as a nutritionist, i have a good handle on what is healthy and balanced - i must admit, i am missing the chocolate though.
So this is today's 99% organic, vegan, grain free lunch.
Zuchini and carrot "noodles", mushrooms, spinach leaves, cherry tomatoes, avocado, ginger, garlic, pepper, himalayan pink salt, soy sauce, turmeric, ABC nut mix (chopped almonds, brazil nuts, cashews). Delicious and nutritious!

What kind of healthcare system would sell disease-causing, health-interrupting fast “food” in it’s healthcare centres?
Well that would be the healthcare system that is utilised, believed in and subscribed to by almost the entire Western World!
I don’t think anyone would argue that McDonald’s and other similar “food” joints are healthy or conducive to healing. So why the fuck are they occupying space in hospitals?
It’s absolute nonsense, and this system needs a shake up
The things you put in your mouth are either preventing disease or feeding it 🍔👨⚕️

LET’S TALK ABOUT APRICOTS BABEEEEE
This beautiful, yellow fruit is known as an apricot.
Apricots contain fiber, carotenoids, and vitamin A.
Fiber can aid with weight loss🏋️♀️; carotenoids are antioxidants that can fight inflammation🤼♂️, and Vitamin A helps with night blindness😎.
This is why eating a diet rich in whole, unprocessed foods are great! 🥑🐟🥕🥜It gives you the ability to consume multiple vitamins and minerals that can make you a superhero. Okay, I can’t promise you will be a superhero, but you will feel super 😜

Personalized lifestyle medicine is the most precise way to achieve optimum health. I personalize dentistry and nutrition in my office because, let's face it - not all of us are the same! It is important to customize treatment based on each person's needs.
We can see nutritional deficiencies in the mouth, but testing blood or urine will show exactly what is happening inside the body.

I had an interesting conversion with someone about why they don’t workout. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to be healthy or loss some weight. It was being uncomfortable about how people would judge them for being out of shape while they were in the gym. It was a concept that blew my mind. I was like “everyone is in the gym to get in shape just like you.” So here’s some advice: Do not give a single fuck about anyone else’s opinion when you go into the gym. Everyone is there do work through their own issues just like you. Walk in the gym without giving a single fuck about anything other than your workout. Go in, push yourself past your limits, and go home! 💪🏽🤟🏽

Progress takes time! There is no magic pill that gives you healthy results overnight! It takes hard work, consistency, and TIME! The key is making a routine and making it part of your life, not just a hobby. You health is more than a part time effort you do an hour everyday! Keep hitting the gym, preparing your food, and treating your body right! The progress will show! 💪🏽

The beginning of agriculture in Central Europe and the involved usage of milk from cows is only 6000 years ago, which is only about 200 generations.
The utilization from milk sugar after weaning is only possible for about 24% of our global population through a specific mutation (LCT-gen) because we are mostly not yet adjusted to digest milk sugar (lactase) after weaning, making lactose intolerance not an “intolerance” but a normal condition.

SEED CYCLING FOR HORMONE BALANCE
I started *unofficially* seed cycling a few months back but was not as consistent as I would have liked. I was grinding the seeds and sprinkling them on top of smoothies/my toast and often would forget to do so half the time.
A couple weeks ago I created a new recipe to make some “seed balls” to not only help me remember to eat my damn seeds, but to make eating them taste good.
If you’re reading this thinking, “Alessandra, WTF is seed cycling?” I gotchu girl…
❓What is it?
The process of consuming certain seeds at different times in your cycle to help regulate hormones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❓Why am I doing it?
At my last Naturopath appt, everything seemed to be pretty normal. I am testing my hormones ONE last time after being on her prescribed supplements for the last 4 months so we’ll see how things are looking at the end of August, but I since I’m still getting some sporadic acne, I figured incorporating seed cycling couldn’t hurt and only help. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❓How do you do it?
In your Follicular Phase (from Day 1 of period until ovulation) you consume 1 tbsp each ground Flax Seed + Pumpkin Seed. Flax + pumpkin help your body detoxify extra estrogen.
In your Luteal Phase (post ovulation until next period) you consume 1 tbsp each Sesame + Sunflower Seeds. Sunflower + sesame are rich in zinc + selenium which helps progesterone production. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
❓How long does it take to work?
About 3-4 cycles!
‼️Its important to note with ANYTHING you do to try to regulate hormones, it takes a full 3 cycles at minimum to alter anything because thats how long it takes our follicles (or a new egg) to form.
Recipe for my Luteal Phase Seed Balls are in my new youtube video! Link in stories currently and always linked in my bio🎥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥Questions? Have you done Seed cycling before? Let me know in the comments! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
