Here are some Northern Shovelers (Anas clypeata) from a quick run to Anahuac this morning!
The first image is a stunning mature drake in full breeding plumage. The second an immature male that is a bit dull but still a great looking bird.
If you’re driving the Road to Hana in Maui, you’ll drive past some really spectacular waterfalls! Most of them are accesible from the road with a parking nearby.
Photo tip: If you want to photograph waterfalls where u get the water blurred, you need to use a longer shutter speed. My camera and lens allow me to take sharp pictures hand held down to 1/5 of a second. However most of the times you need a tripod since you wont be able to hold the camera still enough.
The longer shutter speed you have, the smoother look u will get on the water
So make sure to bring a tripod If you want to photograph waterfalls with this technique, and even better, bring a ND-filter to allow for longer shutter speeds during daylight.
