Some things that are blooming (or about to bloom) on this beautiful Spring day. 🌸🐝🌼🦋❤️

I don't have to travel to exotic places to see cool, beautiful things—although I really love doing that! Cool, beautiful things can be found everywhere around me, especially in my own backyard.
Now that spring is officially here (at least according to the calendar), I welcome the season and look forward to finding the treasures that bloom and grow and transform before me...
#flashbackfriday to summer 2007, when we successfully raised and released five monarchs from tiny eggs...to colourful caterpillars and chrysalises...to beautiful butterflies!
The annual migration of North America's monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus) is a unique and amazing phenomenon. The butterflies travel between 2,000 to 5,000 kilometres from Canada and the U.S. to hibernate in the forest mountains of Mexico. Their two-month journey is the second longest migration of all known insects.
Unfortunately, monarchs have become endangered. Currently, they face three major risks: illegal logging, lack of milkweed plants and climate change.
We can help monarchs by preserving the milkweed plant and planting more of it. I will definitely be planting more of it in my garden this year!
