We have an amazing episode today with an incredibly special guest, Fredi Walker-Browne (Maggie's Plan, The Big C) who originated the role of Joanne in Rent on Broadway! Fredi gives Beth and Sarah the inside scoop about her Rent audition and the rehearsal process as well as Jonathan Larson's writing process for "Take Me or Leave Me" (or, as it was originally written in the script, "big boffo musical comedy number here"), which may have been the last song Jonathan Larson ever wrote. Sarah and Fredi bond over how much shoes affect performance and Fredi patiently teaches Beth what the word "sitzprobe" means. If you love Rent and/or people talking about memes, this is the episode for you!
Today marks a year since I started a personal project of mine. Pursuing a life in performing arts can be a very negative experience if you let it, and it’s very easy to obsess over the things you can’t do so my New Years Resolution last year was to actively look for daily little achievements I make in my training. Initially, when I reflected on my day, the failures seemed a lot more memorable but as time went on, the positives became easier to find and I now have a list of my own achievements to look back on at times when the dream seems very far away. Give it a go, it might just change your life!
We’re boarding our 3rd Class Passengers! Up first we have Kate Mullins, played by Lauren Amira. Next we have Kate McGowan played by Emily Jean. Third, we have Kate Murphy, played by Christine De Frece. All three ladies are of Irish descent. Kate Mullins was destined for New York City where she had a sister. Kate McGowan made the journey back to Ireland in the latter months of 1911 and by April 1912 was preparing to leave for the USA again with her niece. And Kate Murphy and her sister made plans to emigrate to the USA where several of their siblings already lived. Her sister Annie lived in Brooklyn and her brother Patrick is believed to have lived in Philadelphia. It was to the latter city that Kate and Maggie were headed. Did these three ladies survive? Come see TITANIC at The Center at West Park to find out! Tickets are $25 and can be bought at the door, or at www.villagelightopera.org/tickets #titanic#titanicpassenger#titanicthemusical#musical#musicaltheatre#theatre#nyc#nyctheatre#actors#singers#performing#performingarts#community
NIKOLA (@elavenderpowell) and her GRANDAD love studying the weather. Even though they're working from the family basement, they're the leaders in the field. Not that anyone else has even noticed, in this alternate universe no one really cares; not even the International Bureau of Scientists! When a black cloud enters the atmosphere, this causes them to worry about the safety their whole town. But after GRANDAD death, NIKOLA worries she will never be able to reverse the affects. #nikolascloud
