When I bought the car, it had the standard #volvospeed “package” - pegs, hids, and tints.
It had just 105k miles with full service records. The car was lowered on TME springs and had #bilstein touring struts. The previous owner had also installed a #snabb short-shifter. But that was about it for #performance modifications.
The engine was bone stock. 236hp from the factory at 10psi #turbo#boost. The car rode beautifully and the turbocharger gave the car an #80s feel. Press the throttle...nothing... still nothing... wait for it... #turbolag... and at 3000rpm it finally pins you to the seat.
It was exciting. Certainly more exciting than the car it replaced. Prior to the turbo, I owned a #volvo #850 naturally aspirated with automatic transmission. I loved that car for all the adventures it took me on, but it was on its last legs and it never was all that exciting.
Anyways... from 2011 to 2013, I would drive the car around #Colorado, taking it to #14k peaks several times, enjoying the curvy #mountainroads. Stay tuned for more on these adventures and the first modifications to the car!
It’s hard to select a favourite climb on #internationalmountainday but I’ll give it a go!
A close second would be Mount Tamalpais, here’s a picture of me at the top with a view of San Francisco in the background. That was some day. My favourite is a lot closer to home, The Crow Road. It’s the first climb I targeted 6 years ago after finally buying a road bike, it took me 50 mins and three stops to conquer 😂 It’s also the first illustration I did, it started out as a composition/colour sketch for a painting and my mind wandered to cycling like every other day. I added in some text, a road and the print was ready!
