Just had to join in with these #costofliving posts that are popping up!
These are just a few of our costs and here's my notes: -These are our costs for two people and our doggo and our fairly average lifestyle
-Mortgage currently includes our overpayment but we could easily lower it. Belfast is one of the last affordable places for housing in the UK IMO, most FTBers are looking in the £100-£150k region and there's a lot in that bracket. We are really lucky in that respect but the average salary is lower than the UK average so it's swings and roundabouts really 🤷
-Rates are basically council tax, but a little lower than we paid when we lived in Liverpool a few years ago
-We don't pay for water here (yet 😖) and things like waste disposal, health is funded through tax and rates. I noticed on a few of the US cost of living posts that these costs are included in people's budgets so another pretty decent aspect of living here
-I haven't included the cost of a car because you guys know ours is paid out 😎 but a new lease would set you back upwards of about £200 pm
-Belfast is a pretty great place to live, financially. You can live really cheaply here, there is always a bunch of free activities going on and you never really need to spend a fortune to go out (unless you want to). Anyways I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's posts so please tag me!

I did a naughty and bought some shelves from IKEA because I literally cannot move in the office from all the paperwork. I had £200 in savings and the total shop came to £123 but I’ve got enough to complete the office so it’s one less room to worry about in the house. I feel like I should feel guilty but I really don’t, it’s a victory that it wasn’t needed to be bought on a credit card!

Evening all! I got my hair cut today and love it! (See stories), I then renewed my car insurance and home insurance with a cheaper deal than last year! So basically I’ve completed Wednesday lol!
How’s your day been?
So tomorrow is OH payday which for us signals a “new month”. And the end of the first official month of budgeting. We’ve ended on -£15.04 😡 So I’ve rejigged the budget for next month and I’m hopeful that next month I will end on £0. I’m treating it as a learning curve because it was a couple of things that we paid for that were not necessary. We also paid off a hefty amount of credit debt last month so having to pinch £15.04 from saving isn’t that bad in the grand scheme of things! Anyways... I’m ready to hit the ground running tomorrow and have allowed extra here and there to cover us for a 5 weekend month! Wish us luck! 🤞🏻🍀 #ukdebtfreecommunity#debtfreecommunity#moneysaving#savingmoney

Chocolate Feast on hump day 🍫🎄 | Although this is my favourite time of the year it is the priciest. I’ve just booked some plans for Christmas which have cost £86 for me, my OH and 2 family members. Although I still plan on saving for the rest of the year it won’t quite be so hardcore (sorry!). Life gets in the way, it’s my favourite time of year and I want to enjoy it. I’ll still be posting lots of bargains and savings when I can though 😏💷 Speaking of which, got these chocolates 2 for £7 in @tescofood - cheapest I have found them 👀

SMART SAVINGS!! @benm_rikfit
Today’s smart savings is going to be about OATS – such a great option when it comes to mixing up your meals as there are so many things that you can mix them with for a great taste!!
Now the point I’m going to be making in this post is getting more value for your money – as you can see above the pot of oats above is usually the option most people go for as it is easy to do and saves time!
If you’re short on time and want to grab a quick snack on the go then yes do it, but if time is available to you next time you go to the supermarket pick up a 1kg packet for only 50p more – 20 times more oats for 50p extra!
This then means you have 20 meals out of this packet which could easily last you a few weeks – and it also allows you to mix it up with flavours, you could throw jam in there…. Maybe some peanut butter, fruit can be mixed in! Straight away that’s different flavours and options that you may not get in a packet!
As I reiterate again if you have a spare 10-15mins out of your day to make the oats yourself then please do it – but if time is short the quick packet options are still a great shout!!
Let me know your views and opinions on this post and as always from Team RikFit have a great and productive day!!

My latest blog post is live, click the link in bio ⬆️❤️⬆️❤️⬆️ Today's post is all about how to cut your clothes spends for good. You will get some ideas on decluttering, how to optimise your wardrobe and shop smarter, and obviously how to make money from your pre-loved stuff 😀
Before we paid off our debt I had a major wardrobe wake-up call, I was spending a fortune and rarely wearing the majority of my clothes. After one to many meltdowns I decluttered and haven't looked back. I rarely buy any clothes now unless something needs replacing or I really need something and it saves me a fortune.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on how you keep your clothing spends down, or if this is an area you'd like or need to work on, so don't forget to leave me a comment on the blog or below 🙌
Did you know our app is available on both Apple and Android devices? So, you've got no excuse for not downloading it 😉

In my stories yesterday (which will be in my highlights for the future) I showed you all some of the Christmas shopping I did for the kids in my life and how much I paid for it. We have 10 kids to shop for between our daughter, nieces and nephews, and godchildren! It can get pretty pricey. But this year we’re trying not to spend more than $30 per child (except for my daughter) and we’re trying to get all our shopping done before the end of November. Yes, there aren’t as many sales when you start this early. But if you take your time and look for deals, you can still find good quality, inexpensive items to buy.
This is true 😏

Organised heaven ❤ i used to spend every Saturday morning going to the town to do the weekly shop, because I always didn't think I had the minimum spend of £40 to get it delivered. When I got to the actual store I ALWAYS spent far more than that 😂 the struggle is real when you walk through that sweetie aisle 🐷🐷 Now I just have a quick look round in here and the fridge once a week and get it all into my online basket for delivery on Monday! So quick and easy when everything is organised 😁 Don't worry, cereal is in the basket 🙈
