I wish I was writing with better news: #Nestlé is still taking millions of gallons of water out of the #SanBernardinoNationalForest.
As severe drought carries on and firefighters reach their annual budget limits, this multinational corporation is making millions of dollars in profit from our public water.
Last December, the #California Water Board directed Nestlé to stop taking more than what it is legally allowed to draw: 8.5 million gallons a year. But Nestlé hasn't complied. On average, the company takes 7 times this amount, or enough water to fill nearly 100 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
The Water Board has the power to enforce its directive and stop Nestlé’s water grab. We think it's time to give the board a little nudge -- so we're reaching out to Governor Brown.
Governor Brown appointed all of the members of the Water Board when he took office. Now, as Brown makes moves to oppose the #TrumpAdministration and protect the #environment, we're asking him to hold the Water Board accountable and intervene to stop Nestlé.
Family and friends, this is our last chance before the Governor ends his term.
