[Confessions of a Young Professional #1] The reality is... life isn’t a walk in the park. I don’t want to paint a “picture perfect life” with no struggles and adversity.⠀
For a while, I felt insignificant. Like yo, do I just get a job, go home, play video games, rinse, repeat... FOREVER? That’s it?
This was taken during "Grad Ball" back in 2016. Almost 3 years later and I'm JUST figuring out what makes me "tick". I literally PURSUED ALL MY CURIOSITIES and left no stone unturned:⠀
📀Didn't learn how to DJ: Manually buying&downloading songs was “too much work”.⠀
🥊 Didn't go back to martial arts: Not down to put in 20 hrs/week of Muay Thai training like I used to in high school.⠀
🏀 Didn't get better at basketball: Not down to practice everyday and try harder than other people (I’m vertically challenged).⠀
💻 Not a traditional blogger: Didn’t want to share my experience in long-form blog format.⠀
🔫Not in Major League Gaming: Not down to put in the daily effort of practicing.⠀
📸Not a photographer: Not down to go out of my way, drive somewhere, and take photos.⠀
💿Not YET a music producer: Loved it, but not down to give up other goals for it in the mean time.⠀
⚽️Learn soccer (yet): Couldn’t make time, just like music production.⠀
“Dafuq Michael- what struggles are you willing to take then?!”
When you find struggles you are willing to take, you become hesitant in calling it a “struggle”. It just becomes part of a process that you love:⠀
👷🏻♂️Engineering: I live and breath science and engineering. I’m your guy for spending hours on systematic problem solving.⠀
📇 Social Media Marketing (side ting): Learning about the psychology behind marketing to get people to do shit is KUH-razy.⠀
🎥Instagram: Constant content creation and writing is HARD and time-consuming, but knowing that I’ve impacted someone’s life in some way is the most rewarding feeling ever.⠀
🕺🏻Dancing: I love being able to to turn up on the dance floor. Practicing the latest “dance move” feels exhilarating AF.⠀
💪Working Out: I don’t love this, nope. I don’t love the struggle, but because I want to stay fit... I choose to tolerate it🤷🏻♂️.

Today we remember social activist and champion for civil rights Ella Baker (1903–1986), on her 115th birthday and anniversary of her death.
Baker grew up in Littleton, North Carolina, and was educated at Shaw University in Raleigh. During the 1930s she worked as a community organizer in New York. She joined the NAACP staff in 1940 as a field secretary, and served as branch director from 1943 to 1946. Baker traveled throughout the South, recruiting new members and registering voters. In 1957 she co-founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), alongside Martin Luther King Jr. and others—she was the only woman present.
As SCLC executive director, she organized a conference at Shaw University in 1960 that gave rise to the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). She remained a key advisor, helping SNCC organize the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, which challenged Mississippi’s all-white delegation to the 1964 Democratic National Convention. #HiddenHerstory#APeoplesJourney NoMoreHiddenFigures #ThankYouTees#BlackExcellence#BlackLivesMatter#BlackGirlMagic#BlackHistory#NaturalHair#UnSungHeroes#Inspirational#BuyBlack#TrustBlackWomen#BlackTwitter#Melanin#Millennials#HBCU#EdChat#Decolonize

SHOW UP & SPEAK UP, ALWAYS! ✊🏽
We must continue to break through every glass ceiling placed upon us. Our future daughters will thank us for it one day. The world can’t hold us, too much ambition! 🌍✨
Statistics show that millennial women are less ambitious than men, and personally I find that really upsetting and disturbing. The gap is the widest at the millennial generation as well at approx 20%. Why is it that millennial men are more ambitious than ever? Does it have something to do with our generation’s culture or upbringing? Whatever it is, I hope women rise up and dream bigger.
One thing I struggled with was accepting my ambitions. I had tried to shy away from them and convince myself that I didn’t want them because I was scared of failing and was not confident in myself. I also thought it was an easier way to live but it was not. It doesn’t hurt to dream and have desires. Even if it doesn’t work out, at least you tried and have no regrets. You will come out of it stronger and learn more about yourself.
I hope everyone can help support women in the workplace and personal life, so we can see the possibility of having it all. Whether it is helping a female coworker navigate the political environment at work or helping out with chores at home, every little thing helps.
I think this was Disney’s way of saying “don’t talk about it. Be about it!” And we can all take this to heart. Talk is cheap. Do the work. Even if it scares you. Even if you think you look stupid. Even if you can come up with another b.s. excuse. Be about it.
23... 32.. 16... it doesn’t matter. Age is just a number and you shouldn’t let it define you 🔥.
“I’m too young.”
“I’m too old.”
No more excuses. If you’re alive, if you’re breathing and you can think, you can achieve anything🚀!
All the most suggestions people you admire like J.K. Rowling, Walt Disney, Jeff Bezos, Obama... They were just ordinary people like you and me 🤷🏻♀️.
They made the conscious decision to live limitlessly despite the obstacles they encountered. If they can do it, you can do it. Believe in yourself and get to work ✅.
There is a common misconception among Marketing Directors that content for social media has to be short.
While short-form content has its place, the thought leadership impact of long-form content cannot be disputed.
In this video, I share the impact that my documentary, "The Millennial Disruption", has had on our company within only a few weeks.

Success does not mean that others need to be hurt to make you feel better. Success means growing personally, mentally, economically and physically. Success is an inside job. If you have to destroy all the buildings in the city so that yours can become the tallest one, you are doing something wrong. True success does not destroy, it creates, inspires and motivates. The only thing that true success destroys are all the negative aspects of life. Work on yourself, grow and build the highest building in the city by laying down brick by brick and not destroying others.
