Be flexible!! Being flexible has more to do with opening up your mind and allowing yourself to work toward a goal that you truly believe is possible! And learning how to do the middle splits could be the start of that process... #ritaslanina#middlesplits#gymnast#howto#newepisode

💥Some middle splits tips💥
The straddle up:
Elevate the butt on a couch 🛋, bed 🛏, stool, weight plates, etc. if this starting position is not happening with locked out knees. 3x10 + 10’ hold. I like to focus on the quad squeeze to keep the fom tight. Been off and on these for awhile but my goal is to get these middle splits before the end of the year. This will be my main weapon. 🔥
Thanks to @bbbyjjitsu for the 🎥 AND for flying 113577447 miles to Switzerland 🇨🇭 and letting me torture you a bit. One thing I try to do is surround myself with people way better than me...iron sharpens iron...isn’t hard finding good people the hard part is listening 👂🏼 and applying 🍏 who are you spending time with? Do they embody who you want to become?
Tight hips ? Or tight back ? .- -
From personal experience and working with clients both are linked. Prioritising hip mobility is essential to help relive restrictions in these crucial areas of the body. -
Due to modern day life most of us sit at 90 degrees for around 8 hours a day ( commuting , work , sofa , toilet ect ) then when we do go to the gym typically we train in a linear fashion neglecting all the potential angles and ranges which the hip and spine can offer us. -
The hip is the second most mobile joint in the body , keeping this joint in working order will help increase long term mobility not only at the hips and spine but all the neighbouring muscles also. -
Below are 4 exercises I would recommend you start implementing until your daily lives as soon as possible. -
1. Kneeing Hip CARS ( controlled articular rotations) trap air into the abdomen to increase tension and control throughout. Keep the torso straight whilst actively pushing the outside hand into the wall , focus solely on moving the hip through its full range of motion available. Aim for 6-8 reps each side x 3 sets. -
2. Weighted butterfly , place two weights on the knees before lifting the knees up and down aim for 10 reps. With a 2 minute passive hold to finish in the lowest position you are comfortable with. Weight shown 12kg.
3. Kneeling adductor slides , use a elevated surface or box to place the outside knee on. Then using a slippy surface slowly adduct the outside leg away. On the return keep the working leg straight. Focus on keeping the torso straight throughout. Aim for 6-10 reps each side x 3 sets. -
4. Side lying weighted thoracic rotation. Lying on one side . With the outside knee flexed on the floor. Slowly roll the top arm over the head before finishing in line with the bottom arm. Focus on rotating through the upper back and pinning the top knee on the floor. 5-10 reps each side x 3 rounds. Weight shown 2kg.
Try this routine three times a week and see how you get on, tag a friend who needs better hip and spine mobility 💪🏻
