REPOST • @theforkswinnipeg ❄️ GOOD NEWS, #RRMTrail lovers: The trail has officially stretched to 6.3 km! It’s now open from The Forks to CHURCHILL DRIVE on the Red River + The Forks to HUGO DOCKS on the Assiniboine. Layer up + get out the wool socks, these winter temps got nothin’ on us! ⛸💨🧣 [But please be safe + consider the wind factor out on the trail. It’s real cold out there.]
This cold weather isn't all bad... 🙌🌡❄⛸ #Winnipeg#TheForks -- Stacey

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
The Road Not Taken.... This is Dean and Luke at the Forks last week and as I snapped the photo it dawned on me that this has been our life with Luke.
Most people go to the Forks and do the traditional touristy stuff. Skate on the river, play on the play structure, visit the museum. And while all that is great, Luke often finds other hidden treasures to experience. This night he took us on a wild goose chase through the small forest by the river, and while I initially thought, Oh, for F-sakes, why are we doing this, I quickly decided to show my boy my faith in him, and follow along on his journey.
Luke always chooses the Road Not Taken. He has NEVER been one to follow convention or conform to society's rules. And although it's not always easy to do this, and people don't always understand him for this, I do have a great deal of respect for him. His passion, conviction, and his unwaivering insistence on being exactly who he wants to be has led us on some amazing adventures.
Luke teaches us that it is not only okay to be different, it is FABULOUS! Learn differently, savour life differently, embrace your uniqueness and be you and only you. Embracing the Road Not Taken with Luke has led us on many many magical adventures and I have a feeling we are in store for many more.
Let your kids be different. Travel the road not taken with them and your life will be better for it.
I’m so into intentions right now so i want to share.
Get a cuuute notebook . I am da queen of journals because ... treat yo self. And nice pens. Make this like your own self care. Do whatever makes it feel chill.
Start with affirmation! Really ! I just started using them and to be honest it can feel awkward if your not use to rooting for you . But that’s what it’s all about rooting for your damn self - so try something as easy as “ I am worthy of a bright future “
Make a list of what your grateful . Nothing special - just remember to be g r a t e f u l .
Plan , bish !
Ask your self - how do I want to feel ? What does that look and feel like ? How does it sound ? And the then focus one your top three plans for the month , and year. Write it all down
Ask what have I been daaaydreaming about ? What’s ending that can lead to a new beginning? And most importantly what to I want happening NOW . Right 3 things down . 💥 boom 💥 your intentions are down. So list em, make a vision board based on it . Whatever , but keep your intention close and try to let them guide you ! 💛✨💫💛
Behind the camera, is a person saying:
Let's see a pose. Now act natural. Give me a smile. A little smile. Smile with your eyes. Show me some teeth. Chin down and out. Try giggling. Try laughing with no sound. Now move your hands. Play with your hair. Breath. Look down. Now look far away. Lemme see you arch your back. And Stomach in. Try crossing your legs. Bend 1 knee pls. Pretend your drink is yummy. Take a fake sip. Don't look at the camera. Look at the camera. Make love to the camera. Work it. Yes. Work it. Click. Click. Click. Yes. ---Confused. You end up with an awkward pose and a bunch of blurred shots. And numb fingers and face because it was so cooold. 🤪
How many times have I taken this shot? Pretty much everytime I go to the forks, so a lot. How many times have I posted it? Never.
Posting on instagram as a photographer can get stressful. Worrying about how your feed will look, making sure photos are all portrait, posting at the right time, following a theme, editing with the same styles, consistent with hashtags, engaging with other pages and photos, making sure you only post your best work.
Sometimes, I just feel like posting a photo with no plan behind it. No stories to accompany it, it doesn't match the previous photos. Just posting, because I like the photo.
I just like these photos. So simple. Minimal editing, minimal prep work to compose it. No thinking of how I want it to look before I take it. Just, point, shoot, edit, post.
Hope you all have a fantastic day tomorrow. And an incredible weekend. 🍻
✨I could show you a picture of me from 10 years ago and you would be SHOCKED. You would see a huge external transformation and you probably wouldn’t even recognize me. Don’t get me wrong I am proud of my lifestyle changes for sure but my internal transformation is what I feel most proud of today. I look at my big ol’ classic Homa smile above and I just feel so fucking proud of her.
⚡️She fought hard for that smile. She lived through years of chronic anxiety and a volatile relationship with her body for that smile. She survived heart breaks for that smile. She used failure as a stepping stone to greatness for that smile. She persisted for that smile. She hustled for that smile. She still makes mistakes but forgives herself anyways for that smile.
💫In the midst of this #10yearchallenge we keep hearing about lets take a moment to reflect and C E L E B R A T E ourselves and how we’ve personally developed and emotionally grown over the years. Just because you can’t see what’s going on on the inside doesn’t mean it doesn’t deserve love and attention too! Comment below👇🏼 if you’re comfortable sharing your proudest inner glow up moment, we’d all love to hear it! 🥰❤️
Today is a good day. Go check out @pushitastop and check out the cover of the newest issue of their zine 🤘🏼
I’m losing my mind I’m so stoked.
Thank you so much @scottmarceau
I recently made a second account for strictly my BMX stuff. It doesn’t mean I’ll completely stop posting BMX here, because BMX means a lot to me, it just means that the riders and others interested solely in BMX don’t have to scroll through hundreds of photos to find the goods. @dennisshootsbmx is slowly filling up with some old favourites, some never-before-seen shots, and of course new stuff when the weather is right. If you’re into that, check me out. Thanks 🤘🏼
