The beauty of the outdoors continues to ground me. We are so bombarded by electronics that our bodies are so out of whack and drained. We must really make an effort to take care of ourselves with how we live these days. Now that fall is almost here, it’s a great time to update your health program or implement one. Tightness in the hip flexors can be a big contributing factor in different types of 💥 back pain, and lack of hip extension will cause a lot of compensations in the body
Most notably, we see the SI joint get jammed up and the lower lumbar spine get impinged. Posturally, we can see an ↷ anteriorly tilted pelvis and hyperextended low back
As you can see 📸 above, there are a lot of hip flexor muscles, let's first talk about what NOT to do. 🙅 On the right is a demo of a very commonly seen hip flexor stretch, but it's actually not stretching the muscles at all
When we take a close look, we see the pelvis tilted anteriorly and the spine extended. These both ➡⬅ slack the hip flexors. If you visualize the structures, you can even see that her hip is actually still in neutral compared to her pelvis
What this does is ↔ stretch out the anterior hip capsule and ligaments. Done excessively, this can promote laxity and hypermobility. So we need a better way.

We’ve had lots of dads of breastfed babies wanting to be involved in helping to settle their baby, but feeling like they can’t.
Baby massage is a great way to do this and a great way for dads to bond with their little ones too!
We offer one to one sessions at a time to suit both parents, (usually evening sessions) that mean mums and dads can learn a baby massage routine which promotes bonding, settling, relaxation, sleep and helps with tiny tummy’s, terrible teeth, dodgy digestion and so much more!
Our sessions last 2 hours and we’ll provide you with oils and a massage booklet you’ll be able to use to remind you of the strokes learnt. We also offer video/online support via Facebook.
