The next #askmeanything question comes from @ravitiwariii who asks "How do I stop procrastinating and increase my focus and productivity by 10 times?" Don’t look at procrastination as a bad thing if you do it irregularly because we all need escapism, especially with the hardships we face. We usually procrastinate out of fear of failure, lack of confidence in our abilities and the stress that doing something naturally causes. If you want to focus more, then you may want an “accountability partner”, someone who has shared goals who can help keep you on track. You could also hire a coach
because when you spend money, you are more invested in change. You can also build out your calendar so you are forcing behavior, and reward your own progress through gifts or dinners. Big goals can be intimidating so try breaking them into smaller more achievable ones. I find that this eliminates anxiety and makes it easier to progress without the fear of not being able to handle the work.
"My home make makes me feel blah, uninspired. It doesn’t feel like a home, it’s a house. I don’t feel good about the space. I don’t feel confident to invite people over because I don’t like the way our house looks."
OHHHH. GIRL. This is what a friend said about her house recently, and it's not an uncommon tale. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your home should NOT suck the life out of you! It's literally where you come home, go to sleep, and wake up Every. Day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Nope. Nope. Nope. Home should refuel you. Delight you. Inspire you. You should look around and think, "I love this place! It makes me feel good."
And there are so many ways to get there. Easy start: bring in some help for a couple hours - a friend or a pro - and start talking through what's not working, and what you want out of your space.
That's my mission - to transform homes into spaces that serve us as we try to navigate life the best we can. I start every project with a two-hour consult, and you'd be surprised how much easier you'll be able to breathe by the end of it. We'll talk through what's going on and what you wish were going on, I'll offer actionable ideas, we might do some minor furniture rearranging, we might hang a few pieces of art. Whether you're ready to invest in your home with full-service design, or whether you're a DIYer who just needs some ideas and direction, at the end of two hours you will be relieved and hopeful. A space that feels like you is absolutely possible.
And you'll start dreaming of the killer dinner parties you're now much closer to hosting.:)
