“Summer is a slippery season. It is longed for for so long and she rushes in and rushes out. If we are lucky, we get to hold her a little bit later into the fall, but we can never count on those moments. Those are simply just gifts and a great surprise. So instead, we LIVE in the summer. We embrace the fleeting nature of this season from the veggies that shift weekly at the market as their time comes and goes. We preserve what we can and savor anything that we know cannot be held too long. We slip on shoes and wear the same shorts a few days in a row. Less is more in summer because the abundance is sometimes overwhelming.” — from the @freshexchange newsletter ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ If you’ve seen my stories this week, you’ll see that @aaronhaynes and I made a trip to Portland to meet up with Megan + Mike Gilger of @freshexchange this past weekend. Those two have been so fundamental in me finding my way as a creative and in Aaron and I navigating working together. They are real, honest and wildly talented people that serve as such a resource to this community. I’m so glad we made the trip to meet them. Also glad that we turned it into a weekend adventure — exploring beaches, campgrounds + lighthouses we’d never been to. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
This spontaneous trip was what life’s all about for me: connecting with incredible people, eating good food, exploring without a plan, creating art and truly living in the moment! ☼ ✧☽ #elanalootravels#exploretocreate#adventuretotheatlantic

Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse next to Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine.
There are a lot of lighthouses in Maine. But this one may have the most interesting walk as you cross over a jetty made from giant boulders.
But beware, the lighthouse looks a lot closer than the 7/8 mile walk might appear. And be careful to look down as we saw a lot of people tripping and even a cell phone lost between the rocks.
Foggy Ride Home. Trips back to Fuego Diablo from Portland often mean a slow drive through Falmouth and Cumberland Foreside as a treat. Today's fog and rainy, low clouds wrapped everything in softness. The town landing for Falmouth boasts boats and no parking signs, but Cumberland town landing is just a tiny space to turn around and a beautiful view of the bay complete with a slender crabapple tree leaning toward the sea. I had it to myself, greeted only by a pair of driftwood horses at the top of the hill. #downeastmagazine#themainemagazine#mainetheway
Thank you Maine for a lovely visit! I feel like we experienced nearly all... lobster roll, clam fritters, oysters, fried oysters, New England clam chowder, warm humid days, crazy thunder storm, old town farmers market, falling asleep to the sound of waves and an iconic lighthouse. @mikeclouse
It’s been awhile since I got a sheep photo so I was happy to find this little fella chilling on top of the hill under a beautiful sunset this evening. He looks tiny up there. I just love these guys... so it was nice to have the opportunity to catch him as I’m not sure how much longer they’ll be out this year:)
