#tbt : oh how I miss this itty-bitty waist, the weekend before surgery, after 6 days a week for 6 weeks @deeprootscrossfit ,no school or 2nd job and eating my weight in carbs (LITERALLY) 😍
But life happens - surgery, a little depression, lack of hunger, a boyfriend in a far away land, starting school again, getting a side hustle, finding time to even think about eating...it all happens. .
The question you need to ask yourself is: how are you going to bounce back? How are you going to find the time for what’s important to you? What are you willing and able to give up in order to crush your goals? .
Some things I am currently doing or will start doing:
✔️Waking up for the 5:30am class 2-3 days a week
✔️Getting my 5 days at the gym in M-F, to open the weekend for adulting (homework, housework, boyfriend, meal prep, Sunday Funday) ✔️Waking up earlier to make breakfast/pre-make breakfast the night before
✔️Remembering to be grateful and joyful, on even the hardest of days
✔️Reminding myself I can’t ALWAYS do it all and taking a break is okay 👌🏼 .

TBT to getting to meet my nutrition coach @mike_m2pn @ the CrossFit Games last August!
I’ve been meaning to post something like this since then, but I kinda suck at posting sometimes, haha. So, here’s a longggg overdue post. 😬
I went to @mike_m2pn of @m2performancenutrition (more like he came to me... #shy) in April last year w/ a pretty messed up relationship w/ food. I had spent the ~11 months prior developing a mindset that I had to diet and lose weight for what I thought would be the rest of my life (I didn’t understand periodization back then), which eventually caused me to develop a bad restrict & binge cycle. I legit never thought I’d be able to eat any treats again & if I did then the rest of the day turned into seeing how much food I could shove in my mouth bc I’d already “messed up”.
Mike helped me to understand how much I really need to be eating, & that when I eat ENOUGH to fuel my performance & training, I feel 100x better during training, I can still lean out, & I’m less likely to binge #whoknew.
He also helped me realize that as long as I’m eating well most of the time I can still easily fit foods that I like in moderation & I won’t gain weight. #balance and #sanity lol.
It’s been a hard 9 months but I can happily say that I haven’t binged in over 2 months (even through all the holidays)!! Still a work in progress, but I couldn’t have done it without the help of @mike_m2pn & I want to say thank you sooo much.

13 days ago I cut out almost all added sugar from my diet. No more cereal (I was eating a lot of that), no candies, no honey. Instead I have focused on getting my carbs from whole foods such as rice, oatmeal, bananas, oranges, berries, etc. I wanted to see what would happen. It’s easy when you’re eating almost 400g of carbs a day and training for Regionals to justify convenient (and delicious) carb options, but is it the best? I’m not so sure.
If doing this means I improve by 1%, I’ll take it. I am not willing to leave that 1% on the table. Since making this change I have had a noticeable improvement in my sleep and energy levels on top of being leaner at the same body weight. Which is nice since genetics has blessed me with only 4 abs...
Now if only I could get a tan...

Today I had a very unexpected addition to the #M2PN Wall of Fame. Im honestly speechless. @kacidee1121 You don’t get 22 of these with so many to spare that you can give them to insignificant nutrition coaches. You get one, so the fact that you gave it to me means the world. I’m beyond proud of you for completing 26.2 miles in literally the worst conditions I can think of to run in. You prepared like a champ and made it happen tho. Maybe all those carbs were good for something eh???
