Recipe creation is no joke! I try to make recipes with the fewest ingredients and the least sugar needed while still tasting really delicious! To do this, I come up with a basic recipe and make like 6 different versions!
Here I’m working on an apple crisp recipe! The different variables I’m checking out include... coconut oil vs vegan butter, oat flour vs whole wheat pastry flour, a version with more vs less brown sugar (I think I may know which one may win in this one though😉), and flour in the filling vs no flour, etc.
While I have to do a few more trials after this stage, I can’t wait to share the final version next week!
Speaking of apples, what’s your favorite apple dessert? 🍎🍏🥧
Trying to cut carbs, not only for myself, but my family as well. So I've been busy experimenting with substituting ingredients which are low in carbs, moderate good fats, nutritious, and above all delicious. Today, I made a cauliflower casserole, it's creamy, savory, and very low in carbs. For breakfast or dessert, I again made my carrot cake muffins, and I also made a banana hazelnut swirl muffin. I've been learning to bake with almond flour and coconut flour. I think I like this recipe better than my first. Substituting applesauce from oil gets a bit tricky. This batch came out so much better. And the sugar is mostly from the carrots or bananas. I'm getting the hang of how much Stevia to use. (I didn't have erythritol on hand.) #healthyfood#healthycooking#nutriciousanddelicious#healyourbody#foodporn#instafood#lowsugar#lowcarbs#lowsodium

Not sure how my Italian fam would feel if they knew I was eating pasta made from chickpeas, but @eatbanza is SO GOOD! It’s way better than the consistency of other gluten free pastas, so I would definitely suggest trying them out! I’m so glad tomorrow’s Friday this week has been so busy for me. Anyone else feel me on that?! Anyways happy Friday Eve everyone!!

Cumin Chicken with steamed brocolli. Marinated the chicken breasts in a combination of olive oil, cumin, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, lemon juice, and allspice. Roasted in the oven, and then broiled to create a nice crust. The brocolli was pan fried slightly with a touch of olive oil, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper. Then it was covered and steamed to finish.
The KING of sweeteners 👑Coconut Palm sugar is made from the nectar of the coconut palm tree flower. Did you know coconut palm sugar one of the most sustainable sweeteners in the world? Plus, it has such a large mineral profile, making it a nutrient-dense food. It includes a high amount of potassium, magnesium, zinc, Iron, Vitamin C, and many of the B Vitamins. One of my favorite parts about coconut sugar is that it contains a fiber called Inulin, known to slow glucose absorption and explains why coconut sugar has a lower glycemic index than regular table sugar. Coconut sugar ranks about 35 on the glycemic index whereas regular table sugar has double that. Why does this matter? Well the higher the GI (glycemic index), the faster your body converts the carbs in a food into glucose, spiking insulin and leading to a sugar high followed by a crash. Consistent insulin release like this overtime leads to weight gain and diabetes. That's why I use coconut sugar wherever sweetener is required!
Coconut sugar has a rich and caramelly flavor similar to brown sugar and can be substituted for cane sugar in most recipes. Want some recipe ideas? Post your requests below, and I'll show you how to use it!

Mary Ellen from @milknhoneynutrition again here! Just finished up making this incredible Hearty Lamb Stew. Not only is it loaded with flavorful lamb meat, but it’s also packed with veggies and is ready in under an hour!
Here’s how to make it:
1 pound lamb stew meat
2 Tbsp avocado oil
1 yellow onion, cut into large chunks
4 large carrots, cut into 2 inch chunks
5-6 small red potatoes, quartered
3 cups beef bone broth
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/4-1/3 cup fresh herbs of choice, chopped (I use parsley, rosemary, and basil)
Heat a large dutch oven over medium high heat on the stove. Add your avocado oil to the pan and let it warm. Add the lamb meat and cook until browned on all sides but still pink in the center. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
Next, add the onions and carrots to the pan and cook for 5-10 minutes until they start to soften. Next add the potatoes, bone broth, salt, pepper and herbs. Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce it to a simmer and let it cook for 30 minutes. Once the vegetables are tender and can be pierced with a fork, add the lamb meat back in and cook for 5-10 more minutes. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Granola is one of those foods that we all think of as healthy. Except most granolas are not (way too much sugar). Nana’s “Granola For a Crowd” to the rescue. When we get together as extended family everyone (including kids) loves this one so we have to make it in large batches. Low sugar to keep everyone’s energy steady but sweet enough so that we like it, you should really give this one a try (recipe in bio link). Do you have family favourites that everyone loves and it’s healthy too? Please share! #family#kidfriendly#granola

One of my go-to dessert (or breakfast) recipes lately has been this 5-ingredient VEGAN CHOC CHIP PROTEIN COOKIE DOUGH 🍪✨ It uses chickpeas and oats so it is naturally high in fibre and protein. I added my favourite vegan protein powder by @whitewolfnutrition to it to make it even more sweet & creamy without needing to add any nut butters or sugar. Thus, this is a good option if you are wanting a healthier cookie dough with less sugar and fat! I also did make a version with a tablespoon of peanut butter in it and it was so so yummy too! 👅 I put my cookie doughs in @coconutbowls because they are super cute 🤩 This recipe is super simple to make , all you need is a food processor or high-power blender. Here is the recipe --> 5- Ingredients Vegan Choc-chip Protein Cookie Dough Recipe (With GF option)
1 can of chickpeas, drained
1/2 cup oat flour (GF option - sub for 1/3 cup coconut flour)
2 scoops (60g) of vegan salted caramel protein powder ( I used @whitewolfnutrition )
1/4 cup almond milk
1/4 cup dark chocolate chunks
Optional: * Peanut butter - if you want to make it even more delicious * Stevia or another sweetener to taste (I found this recipe to be sweet enough for me, but you can add a bit more sweetness if you want!) Method:
1. In a food processor, blend together all the ingredients except for the dark chocolate chunks, until a thick, & smooth dough forms
2. Fold through the dark chocolate chunks
3. Transfer the cookie dough into a bowl and serve! (optional to chill for 30 mins before serving)
Tag me if you make this! Happy bowl-licking! 👅

Vanilla cheesecake with figs, I could honestly eat it all by myself 🙌🏻 Inspired by one of @angelika_sorkina's recipes. Even though I've changed/skipped some things in it and the outcome is surely different from the original I'd still like to give credit to Angelika 🌻
I used to think that #cheesecake is not something I'd ever be able to make, but hey, not anymore 👋🏻 #Efterätt#hautecuisines#goodfoodgallery#FoodByLus
