Half awake, coffee yet to kick in, bent over, tugging at my fiddly high-tech shoes, I almost put my eye out with this beauty perched on a corner of the table
Chilaka, that's what I had named her, because she reminded me of the parrots in the trees just beyond my balcony
Saved for ages, could afford only a one-of-several, but that didn't stop me from loving her madly or, after a while, from not noticing her as she blended into the background of the things that were part of home.
Happens, doesn't it? Things, career moves, relationships... we want, desperately. We love. We glow with the joy of possession. Then caught up in the hustle of living, we stop seeing. We might still care, but we move on to other shiny things.
Chilaka, my reminder today to stop, to stare, to love again.
Hope your day is a beautiful one.
