Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today.
I've often said that comparison is the death of joy and firmly believe that people are never satisfied when they are constantly comparing themselves and/or their possessions to those of others. I find that I am my happiest and best version of my self when I am not paying any attention to what other people have nor festering desire for worldly things that may or may not make my life better.
Instead, in my own life, I aim to live in a constant state of gratitude for what I have and for where I live, the wonderful people that surround me, the opportunities available to me and the access to unlimited adventure. For the beautiful stories I see unfolding everyday.
But sometimes it is important to use the tools of comparison.
Reflecting on previous versions of ourselves and learning the ways in which we've grown, improved or otherwise developed our sense of self is a thing to be celebrated. We're ever evolving and adapting as our environment changes around us, and it's how you react to those changes that determines and (hopefully) builds character.
Growth is the goal. May it always be so.
Feeling eternally grateful for today. To be surrounded by these mountains as I walk side by side with my friends who are the such courageous and intelligent women. Standing with them as we marched with our community against hatred and bigotry made me fall in love with this town even more. #lovetrumpshate

unfortunately i didn’t see any fairy’s, however Fairy Lake never seizes to amaze with its views
Autumn in Alaska. I’ve lived in this little dwelling in many seasons over the years, but fall is definitely my favorite. The smell of cranberries going sour. Birch trees shedding their leaves, blanketing the world in a vibrant yellow. A chill in the air, reminding you that winter is on its way. What’s your favorite thing about fall?

Soaking in the last bits of my favorite season as winter tries too hard to make its presence known... I haven’t been as active lately due to personal reasons and I appreciate the continuous support 🖤
