Ready for London. #londen#bedrijfsuitjes www.citygamevoorscholen.nl
Comment "Aye!" if you would love to visit the home of Sherlock Holmes in the good old city of London! You know, I don't think I've ever featured 221b Baker Street, which is a bit daft when you come to think about it. So...how about this lovely capture with that oh-so-lovely glowing window light by @tea_and_wanders.
You can actually go inside as it's now a museum dedicated to the famous sleuth who was 100% real and I won't hear a thing said otherwise. The Georgian town house which the museum occupies as "221B Baker Street" was built in 1815 and was formerly used as a boarding house from 1860 to 1936, and covers the period of 1881 to 1904 when the stories describe Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson residing there as tenants of Mrs Hudson. "We met next day as he had arranged, and inspected the rooms at No. 221B, Baker Street, of which he had spoken at our meeting. They consisted of a couple of comfortable bed-rooms and a single large airy sitting-room, cheerfully furnished, and illuminated by two broad windows." (Arthur Conan Doyle, A Study in Scarlet, 1887)
Have a lovely Thursday evening... head over to @tea_and_wanders as she is a fellow northern English person like me and therefore requires an immediate follow as directed by Her Majesty The Queen. Thank you. 🇬🇧 Want your Photos of Britain to be featured? Follow and tag us in the picture too.. 'Ta! 🇬🇧
